Process Engineer
Overview
In this role you apply engineering principles to establish and improve manufacturing processes and products, contributing to safer, higher-quality, and more productive plants. You will work within Manufacturing Process Engineering to drive continuous improvement across safety, quality, and efficiency. You’ll lead process audits, ergonomic actions, and root-cause investigations, shaping scalable processes for Trim and Chassis Assembly. This is a hands-on opportunity to impact Ford’s production systems and mobility ambitions while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

ResponsibilitiesSupport Manufacturing Process Engineering activitiesDrive continuous improvement in safety, quality and productivityApply engineering principles and analytical techniques to improve processes and productsDevelop action plans to investigate and prioritize quality concerns and verify corrective actionsLead and conduct process audits to ensure process disciplineConduct job ergonomic evaluations and implement corrective actionsAnalyze vehicle inventory root causes and drive corrective actions to reduce inventoryCreate process and instruction sheets supporting quality methods and processesDeliver capable processes and tools for Trim and Chassis Assembly operationsLead variability reduction and lean manufacturing initiatives and best practicesEnsure compliance to Plant, Corporate, Governmental and Environmental standardsBack up ISO 14001 compliance and support internal ISO auditing and compliance
Key requirementsHigh School Diploma or GED1 or more years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment (internship and coop experience will be considered)Bachelors Degree (preferred)Effective oral and written communication skills2 or more years in the automotive industry (preferred)Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience (preferred)8D and 5Why corrective action and problem solving skills (preferred)Solid understanding of Lean Tools – 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and Value Stream Mapping (preferred)Familiarity with DMAIC and DMADV (DFSS) Project Methodology (preferred)Knowledge of TQM and Kaizen Methods (preferred)FMEA, PPAP, and DOEs experience (preferred)Validated experience with Visual Factory Management (preferred)Ergonomic analysis knowledge and experience (preferred)Leadership behaviors and strong interpersonal/teambuilding/communication skills (essential)leadershipinterpersonal skillsteambuildingLean ManufacturingSix Sigma8D and 5Why
