Director of Accounting

THE OPPORTUNITYSBPM Partners is hiring a US CPA to serve as Director of Accounting (Controller) for a multi-entity, multi-currency operating group with active companies in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and the European Union. As the credentialed accounting authority for the function, you will own the books, the monthly close, technical accounting standards, and statutory compliance across every entity. You will partner as a peer with our Director of Finance Operations — both roles report to the CFO. This is a hands-on working controller seat today, scaling toward supervisory leadership as the team grows and automation matures.WHAT YOU WILL OWN•   Monthly close across all entities — journal entries, accruals, FX revaluation, intercompany reconciliation; disciplined 10–15 business-day cadence at maturity.•   Xero administration — chart of accounts, tax codes, tracking categories, and user access across all entity instances.•   AP and AR execution in Xero, with direct supervision of one Accounting Clerk; scaling responsibilities as headcount grows.•   Statutory compliance calendar — VAT/GST/HST/PST filings, e-invoicing mandates (Italy SDI, Spain SII, Germany ZUGFeRD, France Factur-X, UK MTD), corporate tax filings, and statutory accounts.•   Regional advisor coordination — day-to-day partnership with statutory and tax advisors in the US, UK, Canada, and the Netherlands.•   Intercompany framework and consolidation — management-fee mechanics, eliminations, and GAAP-to-GAAP conversion (US GAAP, UK FRS 102, Dutch GAAP, Canadian ASPE).•   Accounting policy, internal controls, and audit readiness — sign-off as the credentialed authority on financial output before external distribution.•   Automation requirements — define accounting specifications for the development team's AP/AR automation roadmap and validate output before rollout.WHO YOU ARE•   US CPA with multi-entity, multi-currency experience required.•   US GAAP depth; meaningful exposure to UK FRS 102, Dutch GAAP, and/or Canadian ASPE strongly preferred.•   Xero certification strongly preferred; comfortable working hands-on in the platform from day one.•   International experience sufficient to coordinate effectively with regional statutory advisors.•   A hands-on operator at this stage who is ready to scale into supervisory leadership as the function matures.WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKEMonthly close delivered on cadence across every entity, zero missed statutory deadlines, a clean first SBPM audit cycle, an operational intercompany framework reconciled monthly, accounting policy documented and consistently applied, and a productive, well-trained Accounting Clerk.TO APPLYSend a resume and a short note to careers@sbpmpartners.com with the subject line “Director of Accounting.” Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
