We are committed to a ZERO Incident Culture and are seeking an experienced Corporate Construction Safety & Compliance Manager to help lead and strengthen our safety programs across multiple states.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Corporate Construction Safety & Compliance Manager is based out of our Riverside, CA corporate office and supports projects across California and other states as needed. This role is responsible for developing, directing, and implementing company-wide safety and compliance programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment across all job sites.
This is a corporate-level leadership position that works closely with executive leadership, project management teams, field operations, regulatory agencies, and insurance partners.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and oversee company safety policies and procedures in compliance with client requirements and federal, state, and local regulations
Prepare and manage safety-related submittals for utility & civil projects
Develop and deliver safety training programs for executives, managers, supervisors, and field employees
Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with jobsite evaluations and inspections to identify existing or potential hazards and ensure corrective measures are implemented
Ensure all required safety documentation, logs, and regulatory reports are completed accurately and on time
Ensure proper safety signage, barriers, PPE, and protective materials are in place on all projects
Lead accident, injury, and near-miss investigations and prepare documentation for regulatory agencies, insurance carriers, and legal matters
Ensure timely and accurate incident reporting to applicable regulatory agencies
Oversee administration of the workers’ compensation program and collaborate with insurance carriers to reduce lost time and claims exposure
Write, maintain, and review AHAs, JHAs, site-specific safety plans, and related safety documentation for pre-award and active projects
Supervise and mentor site safety personnel
Represent the company in industry, client, and community safety forums
Maintain centralized safety records and training documentation
Support compliance requirements for ISNetworld and other client-required safety portals
Oversee DOT random drug testing program in cooperation with human resources.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience, including government or federally funded projects
Corporate-level safety leadership experience preferred
Extensive knowledge of heavy civil and utility construction
Experience with EM 385-1-1 (Army Corps of Engineers Safety & Health Manual) strongly preferred
Experience preparing safety submittals for civil projects
Proven experience administering and closing workers’ compensation claims
Experience investigating incidents and developing corrective and preventive actions
Experience developing site-specific emergency action, evacuation, response, and security plans
Familiarity with ISNetworld and similar compliance platforms
OSHA 500 certification strongly preferred (or ability to obtain)
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related business software
Willingness to travel, including overnight and out-of-state travel
Additional Requirements
Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to pass government or facility-level background checks
TWIC card preferred
Valid driver’s license required
This position is subject to federal contractor and Department of Defense drug testing requirements, which include testing for cannabis, notwithstanding California state law
Successful completion of a post-offer physical examination required
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Combination of office and active construction site work
Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, heavy equipment, noise, dust, and fumes
Required use of PPE on job sites (hard hat, safety vest, hearing protection, etc.)
Prolonged periods of computer and screen use
Occasional lifting of materials up to 20–25 lbs
Movement between offices, job sites, and equipment yards as needed
