Company DescriptionGiGi's Playhouse Quad Cities is a nonprofit Down syndrome achievement center serving the Quad Cities and nearby communities. As one of 39 Playhouses across the U.S. and Mexico, it provides free educational, therapeutic, and social programs for individuals with Down syndrome and their families. Since its opening in October 2011, the Quad Cities location has supported approximately 200 families through one-on-one tutoring, speech therapy, and group activities tailored to specific age groups. All services are offered at no cost, thanks to the generosity of donors, grants, and community fundraising efforts. GiGi’s Playhouse fosters a welcoming and supportive environment, inspired by a mission of acceptance, generosity, and kindness.Role DescriptionThis is a volunteer role for a Board Member at GiGi's Playhouse - Quad Cities, located in Moline, IL. Board Members will provide governance and strategic direction for the organization, ensuring alignment with its mission and goals. Responsibilities include attending and actively participating in board meetings, engaging in fundraising and community engagement efforts, and assisting with the development of new programs and initiatives. Board Members will also collaborate with staff, volunteers, and other board members to promote the Playhouse’s mission and expand its impact in the community.QualificationsLeadership and governance experience, with knowledge in nonprofit management and strategic planning.Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain community partnerships.Fundraising, sponsorship development, and event planning experience.Financial literacy with the ability to oversee budgets, review financial reports, and ensure fiscal responsibility.Passion for serving individuals with Down syndrome and their families, along with an understanding of inclusion initiatives.Ability to commit time for board meetings, committee work, and community engagement efforts.Prior nonprofit advisory or board experience is a plus.
