ECH offers a variety of programs including the ECH school, on-campus residential care, community-based services such as therapy and foster care case management, and independent and transitional living support for youth ages 16-21. The organization focuses on empowering families and young individuals through holistic and community-driven initiatives.Role DescriptionThe Carrie Elligson Gietner School (Every Child's Hope School) is an alternative school option for students in grades K-12 who struggle in a traditional learning environment. The school enrolls youth from our residential treatment program as well as qualifying day students from surrounding St. Louis regional communities. Beyond academics, ECH School’s small class sizes and integrated therapy programs provide essential support for students with behavioral needs. Our licensed clinical social workers provide daily therapy to help students with their social and emotional challenges. We strive to provide day students with the tools and life skills they need to one day return to their home district.The Teacher leads a classroom of up to 10 students, grades K-12, with assistance from an in-class teacher's assistant. Teachers at ECH work hand in hand with treatment teams to provide a safe, trauma-informed learning environment for every student. They provide individualized instruction and support, empowering their students to reach their fullest potential. Every Child’s Hope School utilizes PBIS for school culture building and student recognition. Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to meet the individual needs of students.Ensure that lesson plans meet state, district, and school requirements as well as the physical, emotional, and educational levels of each student.Works with students to provide consistent reinforcement to learning, continuous assessment of level, and continuous feedback to students for all learning activities.Teaches a class or classes of children who are LD or BD or both and who are not able to function in traditional school programs off campus with assistance from a teacher’s assistant.Utilizes IXL and MobyMax as a supplement curriculum and skill-builders.Works as a member of the treatment team to promote the growth of the children.Maintains a safe, trauma-informed classroom environment, providing support and discipline to meet each student's needs.Keeps adequate records and reports on student progress and behaviors.Supports school programming and operations as needed, occasionally asked to work evenings and/or weekends to support events.Other work as assignedMust love students, having fun, and being a part of a team. Required Key Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Special EducationPrior experience as a Teacher or Student Teacher working with LD and/or BD students.Missouri DESE Certification or be eligible to acquire MODESE certification. Essential Functions and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, this person is regularly required to use hands, fingers, handle objects, feel, talk, and listen. They are frequently required to sit. They are occasionally required to reach with their hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.While performing the duties of this job, they are expected to maintain composure, professionalism, make sound judgments, and make ethical decisions in a variety of situations, including stressful and mentally challenging situations.They must have reliable transportation and the capability to travel and report to all worksites.Full benefit health packages, 401k, and PTO are provided.
