Field Service Engineer

Position OverviewAs a Field Service Engineer, you’ll play a crucial role in bringing our automation systems to life, from in-house testing to on-site commissioning. You'll work closely with engineers and customers to ensure seamless installation, commissioning, and operation of our control solutions, including Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs). This dynamic position offers a blend of hands-on field work and meticulous testing, requiring a strong technical background, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.Key Responsibilities In-houseParticipate in the assembly and testing of control panels before deploymentConfigure, commission, and troubleshoot VFDs under controlled conditionsCollaborate with engineers to debug and refine electrical installationsDocument panel assembly and testing procedures for future referenceOn-siteSupervise electrical contractors during the installation of control panels and associated equipmentPerform electrical installations under the direction of engineers and following established guidelinesPower up control panels and verify communication with connected machineryCheck Input/Output (I/O) points for proper operation and troubleshoot any discrepanciesConfigure, commission, and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) for motor control applicationsUnderstand VFD parameters and settings to ensure optimal performance of motors and machineryTroubleshoot VFD-related issues, such as motor faults, communication errors, and parameter mismatchesPerform preventative maintenance on VFDs to ensure their reliability and longevityAssist engineers with system commissioning, including program uploading, VFD parameter adjustments, and system testingTrain maintenance personnel on basic operation and troubleshooting of the control systemDocument installation and commissioning activities for future reference.Maintain a safe and organized work environmentBuild strong relationships with clients and provide technical support as neededQualificationsWhat we need you to have:Associate’s degree in electrical technology or a related field, or equivalent experienceTwo years of experience in industrial electrical installationsProven ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagramsStrong understanding of basic electrical principles, including AC/DC power, motor control, and electrical safety protocolsStrong understanding of mechanical principlesExperience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and industrial communication protocols is a plusExperience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) is highly desirableKnowledge of motor control principles and applications is a strong assetAbility to use VFD diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot and resolve issuesExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues independentlyStrong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with engineers, clients, and contractorsAbility to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentValid driver's licenseDomestic travel requirement between 50-75%Additional InformationApplicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa currently
