Minimum QualificationsCustomer Experience: It's Our Business, It's Our Passion.The Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services is hiring a Hospital Liaison to provide education and training to medical professionals on substance use disorders (SUD) and the impact on prenatal development in partnership with the Chesterfield County - City of Colonial Heights SUD/OAA (substance use disorders/opioid abatement authority) team. Budgeted salary for this position is $88,915.00 annually.What You Do and How You Do It:As the Hospital Liaison (RN), you will serve as a vital bridge between the healthcare system and community services, ensuring that pregnant women with substance use disorders (SUD) and substance-exposed infants receive timely, appropriate care. This role involves providing education and training to medical professionals-including OBGYNs, hospital staff, and other healthcare providers-on identifying substance use, understanding its neurological and developmental impacts, and making appropriate referrals.You will work collaboratively with Community Service Boards (CSBs), Departments of Social Services (DSS), and other stakeholders across multiple localities including Chesterfield, Colonial Heights, Hanover, Henrico, and Richmond City. Your responsibilities include:Serving as a liaison between hospitals, community OBGYNs, DSS, and CSBs.Educating medical professionals on trauma-informed practices, early intervention strategies, and the requirements for reporting substance-exposed infants.Facilitating warm handoffs and attending same-day access appointments to ensure services are initiated.Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with clients, families, coworkers, and external partners.Coordinating and delivering training sessions for medical professionals on SUD, treatment options, and relevant laws.Ensuring women are referred to appropriate treatment and that infants are linked to DSS services.Tracking referral data for reporting and outcome measurement.Upholding confidentiality policies and legal standards.This position requires regular travel to hospitals and medical facilities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a strong understanding of substance use treatment, recovery models, and community resources. You must be able to triage and respond to crises, collaborate effectively in a team setting, and maintain ethical standards in all interactions. Perform other work as required.Here's What You Need:Possession of Registered Nurse license in Virginia and in good standing with the Department of Health Professions required.Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse required, preferably in a substance use disorder setting as well as co-occurring mental illness and/or OBGYN setting.Considerable knowledge of substance use treatment and recovery providers/resources as well as principles of treatment and recovery required.We're Looking for Ideal Candidates Who Have:Clinical Knowledge: Considerable knowledge of how substances impact the brain and overall functioning, including co-occurring mental health disorders and medical diagnoses.Interpersonal Skills: Excellent time management, verbal/written communication, and interviewing skills. The ability to develop therapeutic relationships and communicate respect, care, and concern to clients, family members, and other stakeholders.Training & Communication: A strong ability to provide training to medical providers on substance use, treatment and recovery options, and related laws.Current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date.Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.A Chesterfield County application is also required and must be submitted online by the deadline.This position is part of an Emergency Shelter Team during times of natural disaster, reporting to shelter duty as required.Chesterfield County offers an attractive benefits package.
