Elementary Special Education Teacher

Special Education TeacherSpecial Education Teachers wanted for grades K through 5. Candidates must be eager to work with students of all abilities in a French immersion public school and adapt instruction to students' interests and needs. Candidates must also be willing to be involved in the life of the school.This is a full-time position with Académie Lafayette. This is an exempt position pursuant to the U.S. Department of Labor.The Special Education Teacher reports to their campus/building principal.Responsibilities include:Responsible for preparing and implementing the Missouri Learning standards for IDEA students in the classroomFollowing the goals and objectives in the IEP for each student by maintaining communication with parents and teachers on the educational progress of students.Work with building process coordinator in delivery of services to IDEA students.Work with general education teachers in screening, evaluating, and providing inclusion under parameters of IEP.Develop accommodations/modifications to meet the unique needs of students in classroom, CWC, or inclusive setting.Perform other duties assigned by Director of Special Education.Develop annual IEP's and three reevaluation reports for special education students.Knowledge of Transition Process/Student GoalsClassroom managementCommunicate with peers and parentsMaintain accurate grades, documentation of report cards, and attendance recordsParticipate in all mandatory training and professional development, as requiredEngage in school-wide activitiesQualifications include:Bachelor's DegreeDegree in Special EducationHold or be eligible for Missouri Teaching Certificate in Special Education or in an individual areaThorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines for IDEA and 504 partnered with a willingness to follow the school's policies and proceduresProven experience as a teacherExcellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills necessary for working in a multicultural environmentThe ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and to meet deadlinesAbility to integrate technology into the classroomOther requirements include:Be willing to provide information for background check and finger printing clearance.
