Plant Modeling Engineer (PME) Location: Warren, MI (Onsite)Employment Type: Full-TimeJob SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Plant Modeling Engineer (PME) to join the Global Virtual Engineering (GVE) team. In this role, you will develop virtual sensor and actuator models that support the calibration, verification, and validation of embedded controllers for vehicle systems including engine, transmission, electrification, hybrid, and chassis applications.You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to build high-fidelity plant models and virtual environments that enable Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL), Software-in-the-Loop (SiL), Vehicle Hardware-in-the-Loop (VHiL), and co-simulation activities.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain sensor and actuator plant models using Simulink and related modeling tools.Create virtual assets for HiL, SiL, VHiL, and co-simulation environments.Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control system documentation.Develop and execute model validation and verification test cases.Perform data acquisition and characterization of sensors and actuators.Support model enhancements, release management, documentation, and change management.Collaborate with controls, calibration, hardware, validation, and software engineering teams.Define virtualization requirements for vehicle systems and embedded controllers.Support integration of S-functions and FMUs into simulation environments.Analyze controller interfaces, communication protocols, and diagnostic behaviors.Participate in model reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM discipline.Minimum 2 years of experience in plant modeling, model-based development, controls engineering, or embedded systems.Experience using MATLAB/Simulink.Ability to read electrical drawings and understand control systems.Knowledge of embedded controllers, sensors, and actuators.Familiarity with IBM DOORS or similar requirements management tools.Experience with serial communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, SPI, or Ethernet.Understanding of controller interfaces, wiring, and diagnostics.Experience working with virtual simulation environments.Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree in a related engineering field.5+ years of relevant experience.Experience with HiL, SiL, VHiL, or co-simulation.Experience with dSPACE, GMSIM, Simscape, AEMSIM, GT-Power, or SABER.Knowledge of vehicle propulsion systems, electrification, battery systems, or chassis controls.Experience with ECU modeling and embedded software integration.Familiarity with Teamcenter, RTC, Git, SVN, or TFS.Knowledge of ETAS INCA, GCC, Eclipse, or gdb.Experience with FMU and S-function integration.Preferred SkillsMATLABSimulinkSimscapedSPACEGMSIMGT-PowerSABERCANLINEthernetDOORSTeamcenterGitSVNTFSEmbedded SystemsModel-Based DevelopmentVehicle ControlsECUPlant ModelingHiLSiLVHiLIf you have experience in model-based development, embedded systems, vehicle controls, or virtual engineering and are looking to work on cutting-edge automotive technologies, we'd like to hear from you.Interested candidates can share their updated resume to:📧 vighneshwar.gouda@prolim.com
