Mechanical Technician / Machinist (Gauge Department)
About The RoleWe are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Technician / Machinist to support our client's Gauge Department within a manufacturing environment.This is not a traditional production machinist role - we are looking for someone who enjoys working with both machining and mechanical systems, including troubleshooting, repairing, and improving equipment and tooling.If you’re the type of person who likes to figure things out, fix things, and build things better, this role is for you.What You'll DoSet up and operate manual machining equipment (lathes, mills) to produce precision components and prototypesRead and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketchesUse precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to ensure accuracy and qualityTroubleshoot mechanical issues with equipment, tooling, and fixturesDisassemble and reassemble machines and components as neededSupport continuous improvement of products, tooling, and processesMonitor machine performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiencyCollaborate with internal teams to solve technical challengesWhat We're Looking ForStrong mechanical aptitude - you understand how machines and systems workExperience with manual machining (lathe, mill, etc.)Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues independentlyComfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environmentAbility to read blueprints and perform basic shop mathDetail-oriented with a high level of craftsmanshipPreferred (But Not Required)Experience in a maintenance mechanic or industrial technician roleExposure to tooling, prototyping, or product developmentBasic electrical troubleshooting experienceExperience working in a precision or gauge environmentPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand for most of the shiftAbility to lift up to 50 lbsCompensationCompetitive hourly rate based on experience(Typically aligns with experienced machinists or mechanical technicians in the South Florida market)Why This Role Stands OutVariety of work - no two days are the sameOpportunity to work on custom parts, prototypes, and equipment improvementsIdeal for someone who enjoys both machining and hands-on mechanical problem-solvingStable, full-time schedule with consistent hoursOur client is an equal opportunity employer and considers all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic under applicable law.
