Senior Payroll Specialist
OverviewWe are seeking a seasoned Payroll Specialist to take ownership of full-cycle payroll operations within a complex, multi-state environment. This role will act as a key contributor to payroll accuracy, compliance, and process integrity, working closely with internal stakeholders across HR and Finance.This is a high-impact position responsible for payroll execution, regulatory adherence, reconciliations, and continuous process improvement. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong analytical skills, and the ability to operate as a trusted payroll resource.What You’ll Be Responsible ForExecute biweekly and off-cycle payrolls across multiple jurisdictionsAudit payroll data including earnings, deductions, taxes, and adjustmentsEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulationsProcess special payments such as bonuses, commissions, and terminationsMaintain payroll schedules, controls, and documentation standardsLead year-end payroll activities including W-2 processing and reportingReconcile payroll to the general ledger and partner with Finance on fundingInvestigate and resolve payroll discrepancies with root cause analysisSupport audits and maintain internal control proceduresServe as a key resource for payroll systems and process improvementsCollaborate with HR, Benefits, Finance, and external partnersQualifications5+ years of payroll experience in a multi-state environmentStrong understanding of payroll tax laws and compliance requirementsExperience with payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, or similarAdvanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis)High attention to detail with strong problem-solving abilitiesPreferredFPC or CPP certificationExperience with payroll audits and compliance frameworksProcess-oriented mindset with strong organizational skillsAbility to influence and guide stakeholders across teams
