Position OverviewWe are looking for a Quantitative Developer to help build the financial infrastructure that will support the firm's next phase of growth. This is a hands-on technical role at the intersection of finance, data, and AI-assisted development. You will lead the conversion of our Excel-based financial models to a Python-based production environment, working closely with senior leadership across finance, operations, and business infrastructure.Finance domain expertise is not required — our experienced finance and operations teams provide that context, and you will learn the finance side on the job. What matters is deep Python proficiency, a systems-building mindset, and fluency with AI-assisted development tools, particularly Claude. ResponsibilitiesFinancial Model Conversion: Convert Excel-based financial models (firm-level, long-term horizon, and project-level) to Python, using Claude and other AI-assisted development tools as a core part of your workflowHybrid Environment Maintenance: Maintain an Excel-Python environment where Excel serves as the user-facing interface and data registry, and Python handles computational logic; build and maintain Python model instances that communicate via shared objects within a structured directory frameworkModel Integrity & Testing: Develop and run parallel testing protocols comparing Python outputs against Excel production models; implement structured error-prevention architecture — type checking, variable declaration, constants — to address the limitations of unconstrained Excel modelsProduction Deployment: Prepare test results, compile verification, and impact analyses required for Finance team sign-off before any model is promoted to production Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a similarly related field3–7 years of experience in a technical development roleDeep Python proficiency with strong OOP fundamentals, data structures, and testing discipline — emphasis on clean, well-documented, production-quality codeHands-on experience using Claude (Anthropic) as a development tool — this is a core requirement, not a nice-to-haveExperience with Excel-to-Python conversion or working in hybrid Excel-Python environmentsGit/version control proficiency and familiarity with software delivery and production deployment practicesSQL and relational database fundamentalsStrong attention to model integrity, documentation, and reproducibilityClear communicator — able to work effectively with and translate technical work for non-technical finance and operations stakeholders Preferred QualificationsExposure to finance, FP&A, private equity, real estate, or investment modelingExperience with SQLAlchemy or SQL database backendsFamiliarity with Oracle or Opera property management systemsExperience with matplotlib or plotly for data visualizationAbility to travel to Bluffton, SC for periodic in-person sessions with senior leadershipTechnology EnvironmentPythonClaude (Anthropic) — used actively as a development and model conversion toolMicrosoft Excel — user-facing interface and data registry layer Compensation $175,000 annualized (pro-rated for the contract term, with potential to extend and/or convert to full-time)Open to 1099 consultant, firm-placed consultant structure, or temporary employee
