Job Overview
We are seeking a Quality Control Inspector in Shakopee, MN area who has a background in the Aerospace Industry and knowledge in AS9100 standards.
The individual in the Quality Control Inspector position will be responsible for making sure that products meet a set of standards. The duties include examining shipments of inventory, products and materials, measuring the specifications of random items in each production run and assisting with training team members to refine production quality. Quality Control Inspector performs assessment, documentation and organization tasks to support the efficiency and effectiveness of their organization’s supply chain.
Qualifications:
Work experience in Quality Inspector role.
Equipment: Ability to use measuring devices such as calipers, dials, and gauges.
Skill: Ability to measure.
High-school diploma or equivalent
Technical certification or degree preferred
Basic computer program skills (Windows, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel)
Ability to interpret specifications, blueprints, manufacturers’ manuals, drawings.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Fluent English: Reading and writing is required
Good vision to read printed documents.
Work experience in Quality position in a production or manufacturing environment preferred.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, aerospace drawings and specifications.
Work experience in Quality Inspector role in a production or manufacturing environment in aerospace.
Physical Demands if any:
Able to lift and carry up to 35lbs when necessary.
Must be able to move around constricted spaces (aircraft survey), reasonable mobility.
Duties
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Receiving parts and components from sourced suppliers and verify suppliers’ approval and parts compliance against standards
Inspecting output samples using industry-appropriate methods, such as comparing to standards, measuring dimensions and examining functionality
Checking that the assembly or production line adheres to standards and procedures and complying with legal requirements
Reviewing blueprints and specifications to compare to produced goods
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
Using gauges such as calipers and micrometers to measure products
Recording inspection results by completing reports, summarizing re-works and/or scrap and inputting data into quality database
Monitoring the use of equipment and tools to ensure it is safe and discard any that do not meet requirements
Updating job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities and regular training such as ISO9001/AS9100 and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) / Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representative (DMIR) functions
Collecting and compiling statistical quality data
Verifying all equipment is calibrated correctly
Assisting in the development of test methods and inspection plans
Assisting in determining the causes of product defects and reworks
Assisting with keeping measurement equipment operating accurately by following calibration requirements and setting up for repairs or calibration
Assist with training the production team on quality control measures to improve product excellence
Assist with proposing improvements to the production process
Assisting Production during work surges with work/tasks such as kitting, packaging, marking, etc.
