Tax Director

Role: Tax Director (Privately Held Businesses)Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced tax leader to oversee complex client engagements, provide strategic tax guidance, mentor team members, and contribute to the continued growth of a dynamic tax practice. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with business owners, high-net-worth individuals, and middle-market organizations while serving as a trusted advisor on sophisticated tax matters.Key ResponsibilitiesReview complex tax returns and related workpapers for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, and C corporations.Advise clients on the tax implications of business transactions, restructuring initiatives, and personal tax planning strategies.Manage responses to IRS examinations, notices, and inquiries from federal, state, and local tax authorities.Lead multiple client engagements simultaneously, ensuring quality deliverables, adherence to deadlines, and strong client service.Oversee engagement budgets, staffing, and workflow while promoting operational efficiency and profitability.Conduct and review technical research on complex and evolving tax issues, preparing written analyses and supporting documentation as needed.Monitor changes in tax legislation and regulations and communicate relevant developments to internal teams and clients.Mentor, coach, and develop managers and other tax professionals, supporting their technical and leadership growth.Identify opportunities to expand services with existing clients and participate in business development initiatives to drive practice growth.Evaluate resource needs and align team members with engagements based on expertise and workload requirements.Maintain and expand technical tax knowledge through continuing education and professional development.Qualifications RequiredBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.CPA, JD, or EA designation with the ability to represent taxpayers before the IRS.8+ years of public accounting tax experience or comparable professional experience.4+ years of leadership experience managing client engagements and developing team members.Ability to thrive in a flexible hybrid work environment, balancing remote work with in-office collaboration.PreferredMaster's degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related discipline.Deep expertise in a specialized area of taxation.Demonstrated success in practice development, client expansion, or business growth initiatives.Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive compensation package.Medical, dental, and vision insurance.Generous paid time off and paid sick leave.Flexible work arrangements and hybrid scheduling.401(k) plan with profit-sharing opportunities.Employee wellness programs.Generous parental leave.11 paid company holidays annually
