Whether our customers are accelerating life sciences research, solving complex analytical challenges, improving patient diagnostics and therapies or increasing productivity in their laboratories, we are here to support them.Location / DivisionWest Hills, CA / Transplant DiagnosticsHow will you make an impact?Working within the Biochemistry group on new product feasibility in antibody detection, development, data analysis, internal and regulatory (i.e. FDA) verification & validation studies, assay technology transfer, training, troubleshooting, and improving the existing antibody detection related products, reagents, and processes.What will you do?Working with other scientists on assay development (solid phase bead platform, Luminex based assays, and point of care/lateral flow assays)Identifying and testing the variables of an experiment for troubleshooting and product feasibilityUsing scientific writing techniques to write test plans, executing testing, formatting data, and writing reports - internal and external facing documentsSetting up and working with the Luminex, flow cytometer, Biodot dispenser and other related instrumentsTroubleshooting problematic reagents and proceduresUsing process improvement tools to write, modify and improve existing standard operating procedures (SOPs)Documenting and collaborating on newly developed protocols and proceduresAnalyzing data using internal software (Panda, HLA fusion), Microsoft Excel, macros and other related softwareCommunicating data and concepts to a scientific community using Microsoft Excel and PowerPointMaintaining a clean and organized lab area - experience with 5S principles, updating inventory, maintaining equipment, and documenting calibration/maintenanceHow will you get here?EducationAt minimum, Bachelor's degree in the Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or Immunology Sciences with 3-5 years industry experienceMaster's degree preferred, in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or Immunology SciencesExperience3 years of post-graduate or equivalent independent research/industry experienceExperience running immunoassays, protein purification, ELISA, Flow Cytometry, Luminex Instruments, multiplex assays, lateral flow assays, and point of care tests.Experience with submitting products for regulatory clearance (510(k), CE-IVD, etc.)Experience with product and assay developmentKnowledge, Skills, AbilitiesKnowledge and ability to perform pipetting, molarity calculations, dilution calculations, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Must have a positive attitude, good communication skills, reliability, problem-solving skills, integrity and be organizedAbility to work independently, in a group setting, and with direct supervisionMust be able to see the big picture and create direction for projects with a given goalMust be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time in the lab or in front of a computer (50% at the bench; 50% at a computer)This position must be able to interact professionally and collaboratively with members of other departments including the research staff, Quality Assurance (QA), Regulatory Affairs (RA), Quality Control (QC), manufacturing, shipping, ordering, Project Management Office (PMO), and all othersPreferred QualificationsMaster's degreeExperience in organ transplantation, biotechnology, biomarker detection, immunology, molecular biology or related, fields/industriesOur global team of more than 75,000 colleagues delivers an unrivaled combination of innovative technologies, purchasing convenience and pharmaceutical services through our industry-leading brands, including Thermo Scientific, Applied Biosystems, Invitrogen, Fisher Scientific, Unity Lab Services and Patheon.
