Shop Millwright / Valve TechnicianPosition SummaryWe are seeking a dependable and mechanically skilled Shop Millwright / Valve Technician to join our valve and repair shop team. This position is responsible for the disassembly, inspection, repair, testing, and reassembly of industrial valves and mechanical equipment in a controlled shop environment. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical abilities, attention to detail, and experience working with industrial tools and equipment. Occasional local to the shop field work required on a limited basis.Key Responsibilities· Disassemble, clean, inspect, repair, and reassemble industrial valves including relief valves, gate, globe, check, ball, butterfly, and control valves.· Perform valve lapping, gasket replacement, machining preparation, and pressure testing.· Inspect valve components for wear, corrosion, and damage using precision measuring tools.· Assist with rebuilding pumps, actuators, gearboxes, and other mechanical equipment as needed.· Operate shop equipment including grinders, drill presses, hydraulic presses, torque tools, and overhead cranes.· Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.· Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic testing according to customer and industry standards.· Maintain accurate repair documentation and inspection records.· Ensure all repaired equipment meets quality and safety standards before release.· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.· Assist with loading, unloading, and staging equipment for customer jobs and deliveries.· Follow all company safety policies and procedures.Qualifications· High school diploma or GED required.· Previous experience in valve repair, mechanical maintenance, millwright work, or industrial shop environments preferred.· Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to safely use hand and power tools.· Experience using precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.· Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.· Forklift and overhead crane experience is a plus.· Basic welding or machining experience preferred but not required.· Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Physical Requirements· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.· Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive mechanical tasks.· Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and work with heavy mechanical components.· Comfortable working in an industrial shop environment.Preferred Experience· Industrial valve repair and testing· Rotating equipment repair· Machine shop or fabrication experience· Power plant, refinery, or manufacturing maintenance support· Knowledge of safety and quality proceduresCompensation & Benefits· Competitive pay based on experience· Overtime opportunities· Insurance· Paid time off and holidays· Retirement plan options· Stable full-time shop work environmentSchedule· Full-time· Monday through Thursday (Qty 4 -10 hour days) · Occasional overtime based on workload
