Full Stack Engineer

Full Stack Engineer Please make sure you read the following details carefully before making any applications. Location: Remote | NY, DC or ME Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain a Secret or higher Employment Type: Full-time, salaried, with full benefits The Company & Mission: We're partnering with an early-stage, venture-backed startup founded by three former Palantir engineers (along with PreVeil alumni) who spent years inside government orgs watching them drown in paperwork, unable to share information within their own walls, let alone across agencies. They left to build the tool they wished existed — AI-powered software that lets defense and government teams search, review, and move through document-heavy workflows without sacrificing accuracy or security. They're small and early by design — every engineer who joins now will shape the architecture, the product, and the culture for years to come. You'd be working shoulder-to-shoulder with founders who've lived this problem and mission partners who need it solved, not a committee reviewing a roadmap. What This Role is All About: As an early full-stack engineer, you'll help build the company's core application: a user-facing web platform for large-scale document search and review. You'll work across document-processing pipelines, an agentic workflow execution system, database scaling problems, and pushing state-of-the-art LLMs to their practical limits. This is as much a product engineering role as a systems one — you'll design and craft interfaces that make complex, document-centric workflows intuitive, while partnering closely with users in defense, government, and regulated commercial environments. You'll be on a small, tight-knit technical team with real say in maturing the architecture and process as the company grows — and real room to define your own role over time. What You'll Be Doing: Optimize search and review agents for accuracy and consistency Build polished, reliable user-facing features in a Next.js/React application Design backend APIs, data models, and workflow execution paths supporting responsive frontend experiences Write high-quality code on a small team that cares about implementation quality, maintainability, and performance Help define and improve system architecture as the company scales Work directly with users and teammates to shape product direction Contribute to company strategy and culture as a core early member What You Bring: U.S. citizenship (this role supports work under U.S. government contract obligations and export control regulations)3+ years as a professional software engineer Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong product sense and genuine care for usable interfaces Proactive mindset — a knack for spotting opportunities and taking ownership without being asked Experience with system design Proficiency xhyhwjd in Python and TypeScript/React Experience with LLMs and AI engineering techniques Bonus Points: Experience in defense, intelligence, national security, or other regulated operational domains Direct experience working with end-users to gather and incorporate feedback Familiarity with document processing pipelines Experience at an early-stage startup Active or current security clearance Benefits: Define your own role and roadmap as the organization scales Flexible remote work environment, East Coast time zone alignment Comprehensive healthcare, 401(k), and unlimited PTO Monthly reimbursement for home internet and phone (up to $150) Parental leave: 4 months birthing parent, 3 months non-birthing $100/month wellness stipend WeWork membership access
