Internal Medicine Physician (MD/DO) Job Description Position SummaryThe Internal Medicine Physician provides comprehensive medical care to adult patients, focusing on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses. The physician manages complex medical conditions and coordinates care across specialties to ensure high-quality, patient-centered outcomes.Key ResponsibilitiesEvaluate, diagnose, and manage adult patients with acute and chronic medical conditionsProvide preventive care, health maintenance, and wellness counselingOrder, interpret, and review diagnostic tests, laboratory studies, and imagingDevelop and implement evidence-based treatment plansManage complex and multiple comorbid conditionsCoordinate care with specialists, nursing staff, and ancillary servicesProvide inpatient and/or outpatient care as assigned, including hospital rounds when applicableDocument patient encounters accurately and timely in the medical recordParticipate in quality improvement, patient safety, and compliance initiativesAdhere to clinical guidelines, regulatory requirements, and ethical standardsQualificationsMedical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical schoolCompletion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency programBoard eligible or board certified in Internal MedicineActive state medical license or eligibility for licensureStrong clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary teamWork EnvironmentMay include outpatient clinics, inpatient hospital settings, or a combination of bothSchedule varies based on practice model and coverage needs, including possible call, evenings, or weekendsPhysical RequirementsAbility to sit, stand, and move throughout clinical areasManual dexterity to perform examinations and proceduresAbility to assist with patient mobility as needed
