WIFI Survey Technician

DescriptionPosition OverviewThe Wi-Fi Survey Technician is responsible for analyzing, testing, and mapping wireless network coverage and performance at customer locations. This role involves performing on-site wireless surveys using Ekahau equipment and software to identify signal strength, dead zones, interference, and optimal Access Point (AP) placement to ensure strong and reliable network connectivity.Technicians will complete active Wi-Fi survey scans, collect RF data, document findings, capture required site photos, and submit all deliverables to Essintial through designated reporting platforms. This position requires professionalism, strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in live customer environments.Essential ResponsibilitiesOn-Site Wireless SurveysPerform active Wi-Fi surveys using Ekahau Sidekick equipment and licensed survey software.Conduct wireless coverage analysis to measure: Signal strength, Signal-to-noise ratio, Coverage quality, Capacity and performanceWalk the site with the survey actively running while carrying the laptop open and connected to the Ekahau Sidekick.Data Collection & AnalysisCollect RF (Radio Frequency) data using Ekahau, AirMagnet, or similar wireless mapping tools.Identify: Dead zones, Signal interference, Connectivity issues and Network BottlenecksEnsure proper AP placement recommendations and accurate wireless mapping.Documentation & ReportingUpload Ekahau raw survey data files to the Essintial SharePoint folder.Complete all required onsite deliverables including:Onsite Survey ChecklistSite photosEssintial Online Deliverable SurveyCreate accurate documentation, reports, redlines, and survey notes.Customer & Site InteractionCommunicate professionally with onsite contacts and facility personnel.Maintain professionalism in active business environments and minimize disruption to operations.Follow all customer access procedures and security requirements.#EES25RequirementsRequired Skills & QualificationsStrong PC and laptop troubleshooting skillsUnderstanding of Wi-Fi deployment concepts and wireless networkingAbility to read and follow detailed written instructionsFamiliarity with:Ekahau Site SurveyAirMagnetSimilar wireless survey/mapping toolsStrong organizational and documentation skillsAbility to work independently in the fieldTravel 100%Physical RequirementsAbility to walk large facilities for extended periodsAbility to climb ladders as neededAbility to carry survey equipment and toolsAbility to work in commercial, retail, warehouse, or enterprise environmentsRequired Equipment & MaterialNote padPen/PencilLaser measuring toolSmartphone with:CameraInternet accessChargerStandard tool kitGovernment-issued photo ID (original, not a copy)
