Sr. Accounting Analyst
ABOUT THE ROLE…
We seek to hire for office in Richmond, VA an experienced Senior Financial Reporting Analyst to be responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of accounting and financial results. This will be a hands-on position that will interact with business unit leadership and coordinate with teammates in various departments to ensure the proper execution of accounting functions and the accurate reporting of financial results.
You will perform senior level accounting and analysis functions that support the compilation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial results. Additionally, you will be responsible for special projects as required by the Manager of Accounting and Director, Head of Global Financial Services, North America
Finance Business Partnering.
WHAT WILL YOU BE RESPONSIBLE FOR?
Monthly Closing/Reconciliation and Analysis
Creates and enters journal entry transactions in conjunction with monthly closing process
Reporting using COGNOS in conjunction with monthly closing process
Performs analysis of balance sheet reserves, including review of activity and the evaluation of the adequacy of reserves
Prepares various account reconciliations
Internal Control Compliance
Responsible for updating and maintaining internal control documentation as required by corporate parent (Scandinavian Tobacco Group)
Validates and tests compliance with key controls monthly
Monthly Financial Reporting and Analysis
Responsible for preparation and analysis of the legal entity monthly financial statements that are reported to headquarters
Responsible for preparation of audit schedules as requested by external auditors during annual financial statement audit
WHAT’S NEEDED FOR THIS ROLE?
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; CPA preferred; 3-5 years accounting experience; public accounting experience preferred
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal controls; International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) accounting experience a plus
Strong interpersonal communication skills with ability to effectively work with others; good attendance is required
Fluent in English language (oral and written)
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) plus enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, preferably Oracle
Heavy computer use and occasional extended workdays are expected in this position, negligible travel required
