MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE MANAGER

SUMMARY: The Mechanical Maintenance Manager coordinates activities of the mechanical personnel engaged in the setting up, repairing and maintenance of machinery and associated equipment. The Mechanical Maintenance Manager develops and/or maintains systems regarding the mechanical management of the production lines to ensure a safe, efficient and flexible department that meets both internal and external customer's expectations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for training, enforcing and upholding Company and OSHA safety rules and policiesResponsible for all Lockout/Tagout, Right-to-Know, and Emergency Evacuation Training as well as the annual Lockout/Tagout Audits of the department equipment with 100% accuracy.Responsible for monitoring and counseling employees to assure safe work practices, timely and accurate completion and distribution of the Accident Investigation Report. This responsibility includes the counseling of the employee, identification and completion of any corrective action. Responsible for an efficient and effective Preventive Maintenance (PM) program which addresses the maintenance, repair, and documentation of work for all can making machinery and associated equipment.Responsible for communication with all departments including Operations, Machine Shop, Facilities, Scheduling & Engineering concerning all necessary work orders, machine repairs and line changeoversDirectly responsible for all administrative issues concerning personnel for attendance tracking, vacation use and tracking daily work schedule and job assignments. To achieve this, daily interface with the Can line Production Managers is necessaryResponsible for recommending machinery modifications and the development of modification costs to justify improvementsMust proactively seek improvements in existing machinery and production processesMaintain tooling location and accountability systemsEnsure all proper and required machinery lubrications and preventive maintenance are being completed and documented.Responsible for training of all mechanical employees, including development, administration, and planning of training. This includes leading the apprenticeship program ensuring each employee is on track towards completion of program, including leading the apprenticeship program.Must partner with operations to ensure efficiencies are meeting company standards and customer service requirements achieved.FOOD SAFETY - Follow Company personnel and product safety requirements including standards such as those from SQF and internal GMPs. This includes the effective maintenance and enforcement of the requirements contained in the SQF Food Safety Management system. An integral member of the Food Safety Team. All other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORYRESPONSIBILITIES:Directly manage Maintenance Supervisor and employees assigned as Mechanics. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems while maintaining Company Core Values. EDUCATIONand/orEXPERIENCE:Must have a college degree; or at least ten years related hands-on experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, rate and percentage. Must be competent with standard quality control testing equipment and basic computer skills. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Certified in First Aid, CPR, and Blood-borne Pathogens. Must possess valid state level driver's license, which meets the Fleet Management Policy and insurance requirements.
