We are seeking an experienced Ophthalmologist to provide locum tenens coverage near Wausau, WI. Position Highlights: Start Date: November 22, 2024, with an ongoing need for coverage Schedule: Clinical hours include inpatient and outpatient settings; clinic hours primarily Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings (reduced hours expected during holiday weeks) Holiday Coverage: Availability on major holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day Practice Setting: Combination of outpatient clinic and inpatient services; travel between locations is minimal (typically 0-3 trips per week) Support Team: Experienced tech staff, including RNs and medical assistants, offering robust support in both clinical and surgical areas Call Requirements: 24-hour beeper call, with an expected response time of 30 minutes; both phone consultations and in-person call-backs as needed Key Clinical Requirements: Board Eligibility: Board-certified or board-eligible in Ophthalmology (fellowship preferred but not required) Licensure: Wisconsin license or Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) eligibility Credentialing: Estimated 90-day credentialing process with emergency privileges available if needed EMR System: Experience with Epic is preferred Ophthalmology Procedures and Skills Preferred: Surgical and non-surgical skills, including: Cataract procedures (phacoemulsification, intraocular lens implants, etc.) Laser techniques, such as LASIK and YAG laser capsulotomy Anterior and posterior segment procedures Vitreoretinal injections and surgeries Various keratectomy and corneal transplant techniques Diagnostic Skills: Proficiency in interpreting optical coherence tomography, fluorescein angiography, and ultrasound imaging (A and B-Scan) Benefits of This Role: Travel and Lodging: Assistance with travel arrangements and lodging recommendations as needed Comprehensive Support: Vendor-provided malpractice insurance Flexibility and Autonomy: Manage your own schedule within the set clinic hours and call requirements Additional Information: Facility Level: Level 3 trauma designation Support Staff: Collaboration with a dedicated team of RNs, techs, and office staff for efficient patient flow Patient Demographics: Predominantly adult patients with no pediatric care responsibilities If you are ready for an engaging locums opportunity near Wausau, WI, apply today with reference Job ID #j-248362.
