ELECTRIC DEPT. DIRECTOR

Greenwood Commissioners of Public Works is a municipal utility providing electric, gas, and water services in the Upstate of South Carolina. We are located in Greenwood County which has a population of approximately 70,000. We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to oversee the daily operations of our Electrical department. Your primary responsibilities will be providing technical leadership and oversight on projects to improve electrical systems at our six distribution substations and on our 24 distribution circuits that serve approximately 12,500 customers. You will also be responsible for performing analyses of the electrical system, preparing and reviewing detailed engineering calculations, negotiating joint use and other various agreements, overseeing two operational supervisors, two Field and SCADA Technicians, assisting with the maintenance and operation of all communication systems company-wide, and maintaining excellent working relationships. Strong communication skills and the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical personnel, along with a solid understanding of key electric power fundamentals will be key to this role. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, with registration as a Professional Engineer in SC preferred, supplemented by five to seven years of progressively responsible administrative and technical experience in public utilities, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
