Director of IT and Information Systems

Anchor Talent has partnered with a growing SaaS company to identify a Director of IT & Information Security to take full ownership of its IT infrastructure and security function.This is not a traditional leadership role. It is a hands-on, build-and-run position where you will directly shape and operate the company’s technology and security foundation. You will be responsible for everything from infrastructure reliability and automation to security strategy and incident response. Success in this role requires someone who is equally comfortable writing scripts, managing vendors, responding to incidents, and advising leadership.This is an opportunity to step into a mission-critical role with immediate impact, owning and evolving a security and IT function that is already functional, but now requires strong, centralized leadership to scale effectively.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn and operate the company’s IT infrastructure and information security function, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security across systems and environmentsManage the software and tooling ecosystem, including vendor relationships, licensing, renewals, and cost optimizationLead IT automation and operational efficiency initiatives, leveraging scripting and modern tooling to streamline workflowsEstablish and maintain security policies, standards, and risk management practices, aligned with frameworks such as NIST or similarOversee identity and access management, endpoint security, vulnerability management, and system hardeningLead incident response efforts end-to-end, including detection, containment, remediation, and post-incident reviewPartner with engineering to support secure cloud infrastructure, application environments, and deployment practicesCoordinate external IT support and security vendors, ensuring effective service deliveryDevelop and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery capabilitiesSupport customer security engagements, including audits, questionnaires, and incident-related communicationsQualifications8+ years of experience across IT operations and information securityStrong hands-on technical background (infrastructure, systems, and security)Experience in a technology or SaaS environmentUnderstanding of cloud infrastructure, containers, and Linux systemsExperience with security frameworks (e.g., NIST, SOC 2, ISO 27001)Experience with automation, scripting, and modern IT toolingAbility to operate independently in a lean, high-ownership environmentIndustry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CCSP) preferredExperience supporting security audits or compliance initiativesThis is an hybrid role with 2 days in the office located in downtown Austin.
