Calibration Technician - Level 2

Description:The Calibration Technician - Level 2 is required to perform calibrations on medium to high level test and measurement instrumentation and assist in general laboratory duties as assigned. This person should be able to troubleshoot and repair simple malfunctions. The technician must be self-motivated and rarely requires guidance from other personnel in the measurements it is proficient. Collateral duties may be assigned as a permanent part of the position description depending on individual’s abilities.Responsibilities:Perform calibration of medium- to high-level test and measurement equipment with minimal supervision. Ensure customer satisfaction through accurate work and timely turnaround of all equipment and services.Create and verify calibration data sheets for technical accuracy based on instrument specifications and approved procedures.Develop calibration procedures that meet customer requirements while maintaining full measurement traceability.Complete all required documentation accurately and efficiently, maintaining a combined QDI/PVI discrepancy rate of 5% or less.Maintain technical proficiency through self-study, training programs, and proficiency testing.Coordinate and lead teams performing field calibration and maintenance activities.Identify and communicate potential sales leads when appropriate.Support general laboratory operations in an efficient and organized manner.Assist the Laboratory Manager with technician training and customer education as needed.Support Quality Assurance in developing uncertainty budgets.Ensure timely and proper preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment.Perform daily inspections of incoming equipment, verifying accessories, identifying malfunctions, and updating equipment status as required.Perform other duties as assignedRequirements:Military (PMEL) experience or two years of a technical associates degreeMinimum of 2 years of commercial or military laboratory experienceBasic knowledge of metrology practices and theories, analog and digital circuit analysis Experienced in calibrating several disciplines of dimensional devices, thread plugs, thread rings, plain rings, various calipers, various micrometers, dial indicators, height gauges, pins of all classes, etc. Possess basic troubleshooting and repair capabilities, and the ability to work on unique equipment with product informationProficient in Windows-based and laboratory automation softwareAbility to evaluate appropriate standards and scope of accreditation to determine if these tools are acceptable for calibrating M&TEWorking knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z540-1 requirementsExperienced in calibrating several disciplines of test and measurement equipment such as: Physical, Dimensional, Electronics, Temperature, and PressureStrong communication skills including written, verbal and listening skills.Proficient computers skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word & Excel), Internet Research and Database managementSkilled in communication with customers and peers, including the ability to mentor and trainAbility to travel up to 40% (local and overnight, as needed)Benefits: We believe people are the foundation of our success, which is why we offer more than competitive health insurance.
