Superintendent - Commercial General Contractor

Construction SuperintendentPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead on-site operations for commercial, retail, healthcare, and education projects. The Superintendent will be responsible for coordinating trades, enforcing safety and quality standards, maintaining project schedules and budgets, and communicating with owners, architects, and subcontractors to deliver projects on time and within scope.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee daily on-site construction activities, ensuring work is performed safely, on schedule, and to specified quality standards.Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, trades, and site personnel; assign tasks and monitor progress to meet milestone deadlines.Implement and enforce site safety plans, conduct regular safety meetings, and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.Manage project schedules and sequencing, identify potential delays, and work proactively to resolve issues to keep the project on track.Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to clarify scope and ensure work aligns with project requirements.Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and owners to communicate progress, anticipate needs, and address technical or logistical challenges.Conduct daily site inspections, maintain site documentation (daily reports, RFIs, submittals, change orders), and prepare progress reports for stakeholders.Maintain quality control by inspecting workmanship, enforcing standards, and coordinating corrective actions when required.Assist in material and equipment coordination, deliveries, and on-site storage to optimize productivity and minimize downtime.Support commissioning, turnover, and closeout activities, including punch lists, final inspections, and as-built documentation.QualificationsMinimum 5 years of experience as a Construction Superintendent on commercial projects; experience in healthcare, education, or retail sectors strongly preferred.Proven knowledge of construction means and methods, scheduling, sequencing, and site logistics for commercial builds.Strong understanding of construction safety regulations (OSHA) and demonstrated ability to enforce safety programs on-site.Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage diverse teams and interface with owners, design teams, and subcontractors.Proficient in reading plans and specifications and in documenting site activities (daily reports, RFIs, ASIs, submittals).Familiarity with construction management software and scheduling tools (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, MS Project) is a plus.Valid drivers license; trade certifications, OSHA 30, or relevant licenses preferred.Ability to work a flexible schedule, respond to site issues after hours, and perform physical site walks as needed.
