Survey Helper
The Survey Helper plays a key role in supporting the Party Chief by assisting in the successful execution of survey operations, ensuring all work is completed accurately and efficiently in alignment with the Field Operations Manager’s scope and expectations.WHS provides top quality professional civil engineering, land surveying, construction administration, construction management, inspection and materials testing services for both private and public clients.This role involves assisting with field survey operations, including preparing work areas and setting up survey equipment and materials. Responsibilities include loading and organizing equipment in company vehicles (UTV and truck), preparing tools for accurate measurement readings, and supporting overall site setup.The Survey Helper uses a variety of surveying tools and equipment, as well as required personal protective equipment (PPE), to safely and effectively complete tasks. The Helper position follows a progressive skill-based structure, with growth opportunities.Responsibilities Arrives at field office at least 10 minutes early to assist loading tools and equipment. Performs all cleanup functions without damaging client land or company property. Loads and unloads vehicles; keeps site and vehicles clean. Cleans debris by hand or shovel if necessary. Cleaning of office area. Safety training required and adhered to 100% of the time. Maintains clean and safe survey site. Assists with distribution and setup of surveying materials. Obeys safety policies, OSHA codes, and wears proper PPE. Operates survey equipment and moving equipment. Must have valid driver's license. Uses 30-minute lunch appropriately; no cell phone use while working. Ability to work well with others and learn survey tasks. JSA completed daily. Ability to use hand tools, hike rough terrain up to 4+ miles per day. Ensures cleanup, equipment accountability, reporting of damage. Completes field notes, data, timesheets, and paperwork. Meets with Field Operations Manager daily. Weekly cleaning of trucks, trailers, and equipment.Job RequirementsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSEmployee must stand, climb, bend, crouch, lift up to 70 pounds, and have full use of senses.WORKING CONDITIONSOutdoor construction environments with varying weather conditions; long hours and high stress may be expected.OTHER REQUIREMENTSFluency in English is required. Mechanical ability and high energy required.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCERequired: Vocational or equivalent experience.Preferred: High school diploma or GED with construction or surveying training.
