Our client is a highly respected Northern California-based utility contractor with 50 years of continuous operation and annual revenues of $45–50 million. As a Union signatory contractor, the firm has built a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and long-term partnerships.
The company specializes in Utility Joint Trench (dry utilities)
construction, including:
Electric Primary and Secondary Systems
Telephone, CATV, and Fiber Optic Systems (Utility Company–owned infrastructure)
Undergrounding of existing overhead power and communication lines in city streets
Roadway Street Lighting systems
Projects primarily consist of large-scale new residential subdivisions for nationally recognized homebuilders, as well as public works and subcontracted projects for major grading and paving contractors.

About the Position
The company is seeking a highly experienced Senior Estimator to lead the company’s estimating function and oversee two estimators. This is a senior leadership role focused primarily on:
Estimating and budgeting
Bid preparation and submission
Database management within estimating software
Team leadership and estimator oversight
While some project management responsibilities are included, the primary emphasis is on accurate, timely, and strategic estimating.
The Senior Estimator will play a critical role in maintaining profitability, ensuring competitive positioning, and building lasting relationships with clients, engineers, suppliers, and general contractors.
Requirements
Minimum 10 years of estimating experience in heavy civil, utility, or related infrastructure construction
Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
Strong mathematical and analytical skills
Demonstrated leadership experience managing or mentoring other estimators
Technical Expertise (Required)
Extensive experience with Sage (Timberline) Estimating Software is mandatory, including:
Producing complete estimates within Sage
Creating and modifying database items
Adjusting and developing production labor units
