The Insurance Specialist works closely (matrix) with Group function Corporate Finance and Tax and the local insurance broker on claims interests. The hiring manager has clarified that what is specifically needed is insurance experience working with Workers' Compensation in California, with the ability to learn and take on other states in addition to California. The ideal candidate is proactive, personable, and works well both independently and in a team. The role involves managing a high volume of Workers' Compensation claims (a few hundred), and the client is seeking someone who loves to manage claims.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and lead all insurance processes, procedures, and yearly activities for the country in a timely and effective way, securing all relevant standards and rules are in place.Responsible for all local mandatory insurances to ensure compliance with local legislation.Provide advice on local insurance matters to relevant business leaders and stakeholders.Secure insurance optimization in the country, e.g., through avoidance of double insurance or buy-down of deductibles.Accountable for collection of insured values for reporting to insurers and make sure that the values are declared in time for premium calculation purposes per each renewal date.Secure coordination of Risk Engineering Service (which monitors and supports compliance within the Ingka Group).Report accidental losses and document data necessary for filing of claims according to the claims handling procedures.Coordination of relevant policies with local insurance broker if agreed centrally.Inform Group Insurance on substantial changes in amounts insured and/or risk profile.Inform global insurance department on large and/or complicated claims.Manage Workers' Compensation claims know best practices and how to manage a claim.Handle a high volume of claims (a few hundred).Assist and manage claims.Manage Workers' Compensation claims in other states in accordance with company policies and procedures.Interact with other teams to achieve objectives, building relationships and collaborating across departments.Required SkillsGood knowledge and technical understanding of corporate insurance set-up.Basic knowledge of how to plan, organise, and manage insurance costs and expenditures for a business or organisation.Basic knowledge of the invoice and control process for proof of purchase.Basic knowledge of policy agreements in which co-workers, property, assets, or resources receive financial protection or reimbursement against losses or damages.Basic knowledge of how to build external networks and attempt actions to influence external parties.Understanding of the basics of: (1) contract provisions and legal doctrines; (2) claims management; creating portfolios of and placing insurance coverage; knowledge of global insurance markets, pricing, risk aversion, regulation; and able to negotiate, write, and renew insurance contracts.Good knowledge of the Concept, brand identity, and culture & Values.Networking knowledge of how to manage and optimise insurance relations and transactions.Good communication skills to be able to understand and explain complex matters to people with different backgrounds.Excellent analytical and numerical skills.Negotiating explores alternatives to reach outcomes acceptable to all parties.Driving for results accomplishes goals, completes tasks, and achieves results.Detail focus performs work with care, accuracy, and attention to detail.Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.Experienced in Microsoft programs, including MS Outlook.Significant California Workers' Compensation claim management experience.Proactive, personable, and able to work well both independently and in a team.Collaboration, relationship-building, and interacting with other teams to achieve objectives.Preferred SkillsExperience with Risk Track (a Liberty Mutual claims software system).Retail industry experience.Ability to learn and manage Workers' Compensation claims in additional states beyond California.Education RequirementsUniversity degree in Business Administration, Economics, Law, or related area.Required Experience5 years of experience in the (international) insurance market; as a customer, a broker, or insurance company.Proven experience in negotiating and administering large, complex claims.BenefitsMedical, Vision, and Dental Insurance Plans401k Retirement FundAbout the ClientLeading home furnishing company offering affordable, high-quality products worldwide.About GTTGTT is a minority-owned staffing firm and a subsidiary of Chenega Corporation, a Native American-owned company in Alaska.
