The Project Engineer will be responsible for evaluation of submittals and RFI’s to support construction activities and resolution of design and field issues. The Project Engineer will assist the Project Manager with interacting with subcontractors, field supervisors, owner representatives and architects to ensure quality and timely completion of the project.Project EngineeringWork in conjunction with the coordination teams, management teams and field staffGeneral Contract and Subcontract administrationConstruction schedulingMaterial and equipment procurement and expeditingShop drawing and submittal review and coordinationProject cost review, reporting, updating and accountingCreation of RFI documents as neededCreate and maintain project meeting minutes and logReview and negotiate change proposal pricingChange order documentation and associated cost reporting and maintenanceResearch and suggest options on construction means, methods and equipmentAssist the Project Manager and Superintendent in the development and management of projects through additional tasks as neededOther duties as assignedQualificationsA combination of a bachelor’s degree (preferably in Construction Management, Building Construction, or related field) and 3+ years’ experience as a Project Engineer at a GC or 5+ years of experience as a Project Engineer at a GC.Strong technical and administrative skills along with the ability to be organizedMulti-tasking skills and the ability to coordinate work on several facets of a projectSuperior written and verbal communication skillsProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Microsoft Project, Procore, Bluebeam, Sage300CRE, and other project-related softwareValid California Driver’s License and Driver’s Record suitable to company insurance policyExcellent time management & organization skillsLogistics & BenefitsFull-Time, 8am-5pmOnsite in Bellflower, Travel to Worksites as needed$75,000 - $85,000Auto and Phone reimbursements if applicableHealth InsuranceDental InsuranceVision Insurance401K with Company MatchingPTOSection 125 Plan and Flex Spending AccountsHow We Determine What We PayHoward CDM determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data. We evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company. Our posted salary range is based on national data and may be refined for a candidate's region/town/cost of living.For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. Salaries will be based on the applicant’s location, level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position.
