Internal Auditor
FunctionAre you detail oriented, analytical and passionate about public service? The City of Hampton is seeking an Internal Auditor to safeguard our resources, ensure compliance, and promote efficiency throughout our operations.The purpose of the class is to ensure the reliability and integrity of information; compliance with policies, plans, laws, and regulations; the safeguarding of assets; and the economical and efficient use of resources. The class works independently, under the general supervision of the Internal Audit Manager, reporting any major concerns or observations periodically throughout an audit engagement.Minimum RequirementsRequires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and a minimum of three years of full-time equivalent auditing experience, preferably with a governmental unit or agencies or closely related experience.A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position. Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor designation required or must be obtained within three years of employment.Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.Must successfully pass a background check and credit history check related to this position. Additional Requirements Requires effective communication with internal and external customers. Requires frequent travel between City departments and among other business partners within the City. Requires considerable use of personal and reliable transportation.
