Position Overview:
The Web Migration Specialist will support the client. Web Modernization initiative by assisting in the migration of websites from the legacy Plesk hosting platform to Georgia Tech’s centralized hosting platform, Sites@GT. The role involves close collaboration with Georgia Tech web customers, the OIT Web Hosting team, and the CampusPress vendor to ensure successful, accessible, and efficient website migrations aligned with institutional standards and best practices.
Required Skills & Experience:
• 3+ years of experience building, managing, and migrating WordPress-based websites
• Strong understanding of WordPress migration best practices including:
SEO preservation and redirects
Content validation and integrity
Accessibility compliance during migration
• Experience assessing website functionality requirements such as forms, workflows, search, events, and integrations
• Ability to recommend solutions using native platform features or alternative plugins when unsupported/custom plugins are identified
• Strong communication and customer engagement skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
• Working knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards and accessible web design practices
• Basic understanding of DNS and domain configuration, including custom domains and subdomains
• Ability to prioritize migration efforts based on technical complexity, visibility, and institutional impact
Preferred Skills:
• Familiarity with Git or other version control systems
• Experience supporting deployment workflows and collaborative web development environments
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and manage migration intake and tracking processes for customer requests
• Collaborate with Georgia Tech customers to assess migration readiness and execute migration plans
• Coordinate with the CampusPress vendor and OIT Web Hosting team to ensure smooth migrations and issue resolution
• Document migration activities, customer communication, and project status updates
• Ensure migrated websites meet accessibility, functionality, and institutional standards
