Accounts Payable Clerk

We are looking for an organized and detail-focused Accounts Payable Clerk to join a busy emergency services organization. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent position is ideal for someone who enjoys keeping financial records accurate, managing payment activity, and supporting day-to-day accounting operations in a fast-moving environment. The person in this role will work closely with internal teams to resolve account issues, maintain clear documentation, and help ensure timely processing across payable and receivable functions.Responsibilities:• Process vendor invoices, assign accurate coding, and prepare payments to ensure obligations are completed on schedule.• Maintain bookkeeping records in QuickBooks Desktop and reconcile accounts to support accurate financial reporting.• Partner with purchasing and other internal teams to research discrepancies, resolve billing questions, and correct account variances.• Track receipts, organize supporting documentation, and keep digital and paper files orderly and accessible.• Support job costing activities by entering and reviewing financial details tied to projects and operational work.• Monitor invoicing, collections, and cash-related entries to help maintain complete and current account records.• Uphold company policies and financial procedures by reviewing transactions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.• Manage office supply levels and coordinate ordering to ensure the team has necessary materials available.• Assist with administrative and data entry tasks that contribute to efficient daily accounting operations.• At least 3 years of experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping, or a closely related accounting support role.• Hands-on experience using QuickBooks Desktop in a detail-focused setting.• Working knowledge of invoice processing, coding, check runs, billing, collections, and accounts receivable support.• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records and identify inconsistencies quickly.• Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.• Solid communication and customer service skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.• Preferred background includes a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.• Availability to work additional evening or weekend hours during storm-related business demands.Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
