Job Title: Project Manager 3 – Imaging / Document ManagementLocation: Richmond, VA (Onsite)Duration: 04/01/2026 – 10/07/2026Employment Type: Contract (1099/C2C)About the RoleWe are seeking a highly experienced Project Manager – Document Management & Imaging to lead enterprise-wide document capture, classification, and content management initiatives. This role requires a seasoned professional with deep expertise in ECM/EDMS platforms, intelligent document processing, and AI/ML-driven automation.The ideal candidate will assess current-state workflows, identify inefficiencies, and drive transformation initiatives to improve operational efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Leadership & GovernanceLead, mentor, and manage a team of document management professionals.Establish governance frameworks including SLAs, KPIs, and performance metrics.Provide regular program updates, risk assessments, and status reporting to leadership.Manage multiple concurrent initiatives while aligning with organizational priorities.Business Process ImprovementAnalyze and document current and future state workflows using process maps, swimlanes, and SIPOC diagrams.Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.Optimize document intake processes across fax, email, physical mail, and electronic channels.Document Capture & RoutingServe as SME for document capture platforms such as RightFax and Kofax.Configure and manage routing rules for automated document classification and delivery.Oversee integrations with enterprise systems and downstream applications.ECM / EDMS ManagementManage enterprise content platforms such as Laserfiche, IBM FileNet, or Hyland (OnBase/Perceptive Content).Define document taxonomy, metadata, retention policies, and access controls.Ensure system reliability, scalability, and compliance with organizational standards.AI/ML & Intelligent AutomationImplement AI/ML solutions for document classification, OCR enhancement, and data extraction.Develop intelligent routing and automation frameworks to reduce manual effort.Measure and report automation benefits (efficiency gains, error reduction, cycle time improvements).Stay updated with emerging technologies in document intelligence and generative AI.Stakeholder ManagementFacilitate requirements gathering sessions and translate business needs into technical solutions.Act as a liaison between business, IT, vendors, and compliance teams.Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.10+ years of experience in document/content/records management.5+ years of leadership or program management experience.7+ years of hands-on experience with:Document capture tools (RightFax, Kofax, or similar)ECM/EDMS platforms (Laserfiche, FileNet, Hyland)AI/ML-based document processing solutionsOCR, ICR, barcode recognition, and forms processingStrong experience in requirements gathering, stakeholder management, and SDLC.Proficiency in project management tools (Jira, MS Project, Azure DevOps).Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.Preferred QualificationsPMP, PgMP, or equivalent certification.Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt/Black Belt).Certified Information Professional (CIP) or Certified Records Manager (CRM).Experience with RPA tools (UiPath, Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere).Knowledge of compliance frameworks (HIPAA, SOX, FOIA, NARA).Experience with cloud-based ECM platforms and migration initiatives.
