Job Title: Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)Location: Miami, Florida - 33130 (School-Based & Community Settings)Schedule: Full-time, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PMStart Date: ASAPEmployment Type: PermanentSalary: $75,000 – $90,000 annuallyPosition OverviewBirch Agency is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide specialized instruction and support to students from birth through age 21. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity for a professional passionate about empowering individuals with visual impairments to reach their full potential across educational and community settings.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide direct instruction in braille, assistive technology, and adaptive skills for students with visual impairments.Develop and implement individualized lesson plans and IEP goals based on student needs.Conduct Functional Vision Assessments (FVA) and Learning Media Assessments (LMA).Adapt classroom materials and environments to support accessibility and learning.Collaborate with educators, administrators, and related service providers to ensure comprehensive student support.Provide training and guidance to families and school staff on strategies and accommodations.Support early intervention services aligned with developmental goals.Maintain accurate documentation, case notes, and assessment reports.Participate in IEP meetings, staff conferences, and community outreach initiatives.Stay current with best practices and advancements in visual impairment education.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Visual Disabilities or related field required.Active Florida Department of Education certification in Visual Impairments (or ability to obtain and maintain).CVI Assessment and Intervention Certification preferredPrior experience working with visually impaired students and/or early intervention preferred.Strong knowledge of braille instruction, assistive technology, and adaptive strategies.Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.Proficiency with computer systems (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn internal databases.Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the community as needed.Ability to meet physical requirements, including lifting up to 50 lbs and supporting student mobility when necessary.Work EnvironmentSchool-based and community settings supporting students across a wide age range (birth–21).Collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.Opportunities to engage in outreach, training, and professional development.Apply TodayIf you’re a passionate TVI looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with visual impairments, Birch Agency would love to connect with you!#cat2
