Pay Rate: $39.45/hr on w2 (No C2C or 3rd parties)Location: Onsite in San Diego or Foster City, CA officeHelping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Test Engineer - Central Task Manager (CTM) to join its Autonomous Vehicle Operations Software QA team in San Diego.In this role, you’ll focus on API integration testing, performance testing, and synthetic monitoring for CTM, a mission-critical backend platform responsible for coordinating operational tasks, workflows, and ticketing across the autonomous vehicle fleet. You’ll work closely with backend engineers, QA leads, and operations teams to ensure reliable, high-quality releases across complex operational systems.The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically strong, and experienced testing large-scale backend services and APIs within fast-paced development environments.As a Test Engineer - Central Task Manager (CTM), you'll:Develop, maintain, and expand Playwright-based API integration tests using TypeScript to improve regression coverage across CTM workflows, including tasking, ticketing, notifications, and scheduling.Perform manual and automated API testing for new features, releases, hotfixes, and pre-merge validations.Monitor, investigate, and triage synthetic test failures running against deployed environments.Support defect triage activities by reproducing, isolating, and validating issues across development, staging, and production environments.Partner cross-functionally with developers, QA leads, product managers, and operations teams to ensure test completeness and release readiness.Provide QA validation and release sign-off while ensuring testing activities meet established quality standards.Document test results, maintain test traceability within TestRail, and track issues through resolution.Contribute to ongoing improvements in test infrastructure, CI pipelines, and containerized testing environments.Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.1–3 years of experience as a QA/Test Engineer with proven skills in testing large-scale, complex backend services.Strong experience with TypeScript or JavaScript.Experience with API testing (REST) and tools like Postman, curl, or programmatic HTTP clients.Familiarity with testing tools like JIRA and TestRail.Bonus Qualifications: Familiarity with Grafana, docker, testcontainers for spinning up containerized test environments.Experience with Bazel or similar build systems.Understanding of event-driven systems, WebSockets patterns.
