Academic Coach, Alpha - $150,000/year USD
On-site at Alpha School locations: New York City, NY Orange County (Lake Forest), CA San Francisco, CA Santa Barbara, CAAnnual salary of $150,000, paid weekly. Health benefits begin on day one.Relocation assistance providedYou have excelled in an intensely competitive arena. Perhaps elite-level sports, a distinguished record at a top university, a role at a highly selective organization, or a business you launched and grew yourself. You understand the gap between participation and real competition. Now consider channeling that drive into a setting where K-12 students—who have never had access to someone with your credentials—are guided toward standards they never imagined reaching.Alpha leverages AI-driven 1:1 learning that allows students to complete core academics in roughly two hours per day. The remaining time is dedicated to life skills, self-directed projects, and meaningful personal development. At Alpha's most rigorous campuses, students require more than oversight. They need a credible mentor whose personal accomplishments embody excellence: someone capable of managing group dynamics, establishing expectations, and guiding them through doubt, distraction, and pushback.Your role is not to instruct; it is to coach, challenge, and uphold the same exacting standards you have applied to yourself. You will allocate 80% of your time to direct 1-on-1 and small-group coaching alongside life-skills workshops. The remaining 20% is devoted to shaping each day's tone: purposeful morning sessions that build a culture where average is unacceptable. This trajectory does not lead toward management positions. It centers on depth of impact. You begin by mastering Alpha's methodology and earning student trust. Within months, you become the person they rely on to push them beyond perceived limits. The return is not a title. It is witnessing a student who struggled with eye contact in September confidently address a room of adults in May.If you have been searching for a way to leverage your elite background toward something beyond personal achievement, apply now. If you require a scripted curriculum, a conventional classroom structure, or a pathway to administrative leadership, this is not the right fit. What You Will Be DoingConducting 1-on-1 and small-group coaching that identifies specific obstacles, establishes ambitious objectives, and ensures students follow through with accountabilityLeading structured life-skills workshops designed for skill mastery rather than engagement alone, drawing on credible narratives from your own high-achievement backgroundEvaluating student mastery using tools such as Test2Pass and monitoring progress through Coachbot analytics to refine coaching tactics in real timeEstablishing the campus culture each morning with focused kickoff sessions that uphold high-performance standards across the schoolCultivating trusted mentor relationships with students and their families by maintaining high expectations, consistency, and clear motivation plansWhat You Won’t Be DoingCreating lesson plans, developing curriculum, or grading student work. Alpha's academic structure addresses those separately.Delivering lectures to large classrooms of 30 students. Your focus is intensive coaching in small settings, not mass instruction.Supervising other staff members or pursuing an administrative career path. This position emphasizes direct student impact rather than organizational advancement.Attending faculty meetings or dealing with institutional red tape.
