Position DescriptionJOB TITLE: Assistant Director of Early EducationDEPARTMENT: Early EducationREPORTS TO: Director of Early EducationSTATUS: 12-month, Salary Exempt; Administrative CalendarHOURS: Full Time (40), 9:30am - 5:30pmLOCATION: Fort Lauderdale________________________________________________________________________Purpose Statement:The Early Education Assistant Director’s role is to assist in the development of the Early Education Program, including but not limited to: actively participating in the planning and implementation of the early childhood goals, policies, procedures, curriculum decisions, communications with parents, and the assessment of the needs of individual children, under the guidance of the Early Education Director. The Early Education Assistant Director will also assist the Early Education Director in the promotion of CCA to the community.Scope: This position interacts with students, staff members and parents to assess, develop, and accomplish an academically challenging, developmentally appropriate, nurturing environment that best meets the individual needs of each child enrolled in CCA’s Early Education program.Specific Responsibilities:Provide support and contribute to the responsibilities of the DirectorDevelops policies, plans, and procedures to effect smooth, safe, efficient, and effective operation of Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten and the Pre-K aftercare program (ACE), consistent with God’s Word toward mission accomplishmentPlans and organizes school-wide initiatives for the development of the Early Childhood Program and aftercare (ACE).Manages ACE (aftercare) and summer camp staff, rosters, schedules, ordering & storage of snacks, equipment, & classroom supply needs, sign-in/sign-out sheets, etc.Works with the business office to facilitate billing, registrations, and record-keeping for ACEAssigns and oversees staff childcare on PD days, Staff meetings, CCFL Huddles, and half daysAssists in planning and facilitating all Early Childhood events throughout the year and during summer months.Assist in the development of media pieces for Early Education News and eventsConducts admissions interviews for Preschool and Pre-kindergartenEnsures campus safety for Early Education staff and studentsPlans for adequate and efficient staffing for Pre-K, Preschool, and PreK ACE.Ensures efficient and effective arrival and dismissal of studentsEnsures necessary and advisable supervision of studentsEnsures safe and efficient use of volunteers and substitutesFacilitates all EC emergency drills with Director and Admin AssistantFormulates a plan to use student achievement data to inform instruction.Ensures orientation of new staff; equips them with Handbooks, etc.Ensures actions delineated in the school improvement plan are carried out.Ensures ongoing adherence to ACSI and BCCLE requirements. Effectively oversees Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten teachers, & Teacher Assistants (job assignments, evaluations and supervision duties)Ensures Pre-K Specials Teachers are prompt and effective in their rolesConducts Teacher observations for Preschool & Pre-KindergartenWorks with Admin Assistant to ensure student files are complete for four (4) annual inspections by BCCLE and ACSI Early Education inspectorsEnforces completion of Early Childhood requirements for staff and students Maintains master calendar along with Admin AssistantEnsures review of lesson plans, weekly team meetings, provides support and accountability as necessary and advisableMonitors staff dress code and implements accountability procedureEnsures accurate student tardy reporting and attendance designationWorks with Director to ensure necessary and advisable staff communication through weekly (PreK) and monthly (Preschool) staff meetingsEnsures staff attendance at devotions, CCA staff meetings, CCFL HuddlesMaximizes resources available to meet exceptional, remedial, and enrichment needs of studentsEnsures effective and advisable class placement of studentsEnsures the effective scheduling of staffEnsures accurate reporting and documentation of PTO, staff absencesEnsures adherence to overtime worked by administrative approval onlyEnsures appropriate teacher credentialing/certificationMakes operational decisions including but not limited to student discipline, curriculum, student achievement, staff and parent needs, aftercare for PreK, school events, injury, sickness, personnel, security, and safety concernsCollaborates and assists in planning, implementation, and execution of whole-academy and whole-elementary events and initiatives.Plans and facilitates in-house field trips and ensures their safety and appropriate administrationWorks with elementary admin team to coordinate EC/Elementary chapelsConducts admissions interviews and compiles documentation for any recommendations of expulsionConducts fact-finding relative to potential child abuse and neglect reporting. Collaborates as necessary and advisable with key CCA staff including school President, Lower and Upper School Principals, Athletics Director, Performing Arts Director, ACE Director, Director of Accreditation & Certification, Director of Operations, Director of Academics, Admissions Administrators, and Guidance CounselorsConducts parent/teacher/student conferences and Child Studies with ESE CoordinatorWorks with Early Education Director to develop and maintain staffing pattern for Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, PreK ACE, and SubstitutesWorks with Early Education Director to develop and maintain job descriptions and work calendars for all staffAttends school events including P2P meetings as necessaryAccomplishes effective collaboration with all Calvary Chapel ministriesOversees staff as per CCA organizational chartOversees faculty development goals: classroom management and instructional methods/best practices and shares appropriate Gesell Assessment recommendations after testingOversees annual academic and spiritual goals of assigned facultyAssures teachers are using Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards as it pertains to lesson planning and implementationAssigns preschool staff to specific areas when Sub Coordinator is not availableInspects Early Education classrooms as needed for adherence to ACSI and BCCLE standards for Early Childhood programsFulfills any related duties as requested by AdministrationQualifications/Skills/Gifts: Strong personal commitment to Jesus ChristCommitment to the philosophy and Statement of Faith of Calvary ChapelKnowledge and ability to apply God’s WordA strong desire to serve the Lord and peopleExcellent interpersonal skills with regard to children, parents, and colleaguesLove for children and a desire to see that they have a right relationship with Jesus ChristSpiritual gifts of administration, leadership, teaching, discernment, service, help, and exhortationCommitment to missionProactive orientationAdaptabilityGood listening skills – listening with compassion and empathyOrganized and effective at following schedules; good time management skillsAble to multi-task with many interruptionsCritical thinking/problem-solvingStrong communication skillsDecision-making and judgment skillsPlanning and organizational skillsEffective analytical skillsProficient computer skills; specifically, Google Drive, Gmail, spreadsheets, Popsicle programPhysically able to manage active children (i.e., playing on the floor, carrying, engaging in play and discipline) with infants through 4-year-olds.Must be able to tolerate disinfectants, sanitizing products, and latex gloves.Must be willing to change diapers if necessaryMust be able to lift up to 45 lbs.Education Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary EducationNational CDA or equivalencyCompletion of all DCF and BCCLE Training requirements for childcare
