Senior Specialist Payroll
Position Summary
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, advanced Excel capabilities, experience with payroll systems (including ADP), and a solid understanding of payroll tax laws and reporting. This position reports to the HR Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Process weekly, bi-weekly, payroll for employees accurately and on time
Maintain and audit payroll data including wages, deductions, benefits, and tax withholdings
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and stay up to date on any changes
Administer and Maintain the HRIS within ADP, including employee data, job changes, pay rates and system integrity
Prepare and submit payroll tax filings, including quarterly and annual reports
Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
Manage garnishments, levies, and other involuntary deductions
Partner with Finance to ensure accurate employee data and reporting
Generate payroll reports and provide data analysis to leadership as needed
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, taxes, and deductions
Support internal and external audits by providing payroll documentation and reports
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information Support administration of 401(k) plans, including employee contributions, employer matches, and loan repayments
Ensure compliance with COBRA requirements related to payroll and benefits deductions
Administer payroll-related benefits deductions, including health, dental, vision, and other voluntary benefits
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (Accounting strongly preferred)
5+ years of payroll processing experience
Experience with ADP Workforce Now
Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, data analysis)
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Must be a team player
Knowledge of wage and hour laws & FLSA
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
Experience with payroll system implementations or upgrades

This role routinely uses standard office equipment, including a laptop computer and cell phone. The employee is generally required to spend long periods of time sitting, typing, and working at a computer. May require the ability to occasionally lift and transport items. The estimated base salary range for the Human Resources Sr. Specialist is $69,000-$75,000. The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future. The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that GLOVIS EA reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel.
