DescriptionMaintenance TechnicianMemphis Tennessee 38107Pay Rate: $30.00/Hour - $35.64Shift: 2-2-3 schedule 6:45 pm to 7:00 am/ Will train in 1st shift and then transition to normal shift (can be up to 1 month)Purpose of the JobConstructs, installs, maintains and repairs any mechanical, structural, hydraulic or pneumatic equipment according to accepted codes and safety standards.Position takes necessary decisions, according to skill level, in carrying out all job functions to the fullestextent when working without direct supervision. Position will be able to demonstrate skills in power transmission, pneumatics piping, hydraulics, pumps, troubleshooting components welding, alignment procedures, rigging and millwright work, motor controls, electrical symbols and theory in the above skill levels.Industrial Maintenance experience needed. No building or auto maintenanceJob ResponsibilitiesComply with all safety and plant requirements individually and hold other team members to the same high standards of safetyParticipates in the safety, quality, autonomous maintenance training, TPM, 5's and housekeeping programs as established within the plantPerforms PM's as they are scheduledPerforms all equipment repairs and projects in a safe and efficient manner using all safety procedures and wearing required PPE.Ability to properly, precision align belt, gear or direct coupled shafts using proper tools to specified tolerances.Answer line calls in a prompt manner and carries required tools to complete work safety and efficiently and assist during process upsets as neededFollow job repair schedule unless given approval to deviate from the schedule.Complete all shutdown and startup repairs as directed by Maintenance ManagerJob RequirementsEducationHigh School Diploma or equivalentThree (3) years' experience in the mechanical field is preferred in an industrial or manufacturing environmentKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesUnderstanding of the followingLubrication principles and bearing tolerances and basic bearing "physics"-I.E. how does it work in terms of need for extreme care, keeping clean, etc.Hydraulic systems - hydraulic flow principles.Effects of pipe sizes and valves on pressure drops, making proper fittings per system requirements, proper valve application, etc.Applied to water systems, hot oil, and hydraulic systems.Compressed air and steam, systems.Pump basics and operating characteristics include effects of suction pressures, head pressures, sealing/packing techniques.Basic electrical component "how they work" understanding: solenoids, motors, heaters, contacts, and photoeyesAbility to track conveyor belts properly and understanding the physics of belt operation and tracking including bucket elevators; belt splicing.Ability to read air and power fluid schematics.Basic welding for all; structural and piping welding.Pipefitting – alignment, flange, threading.Basic electrical component "how they work" understanding: solenoids, motors, heaters, contacts, and photoeyes.Ultrasonic rotating equipment troubleshooting.Essential Physical Requirements/Work EnvironmentWear required PPE equipment (safety glasses, bump cap, steel toe boots, ear protection, heat/cut resistant gloves, long sleeve shirt, and face mask)Able to shovel wet sandClimb and descend stairsLift, push, and pull 40lbs with assistanceWithstand exposure to temperature extremesAdditional RequirementsComplete all annual safety and role specific training, as required by the nature of this positionMust successfully pass all Maintenance Assessments skill testing
