DescriptionDescription:The Neenah Joint School District is accepting applications for a full time (1.0 FTE) Family and Consumer Science Education Teacher at Neenah Middle School. The start date for this position is August 25, 2026. This position will remain open until filled.Job Summary:The Family & Consumer Education position requires a dynamic teacher with the ability to develop positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to provide students with rigorous and high-quality learning experiences in Family Consumer areas such as infants, toddlers and child development. The candidate must be able to sustain and grow our family and the consumer science program.The ability to use data to drive instructional decisions and collaborate with colleagues is an essential skill for this position. Candidates must be willing to collaborate with business, career, and technical partners. Candidates should be proactive and passionate in their work using a hands-on learning approach that encourages students to imagine, create, and learn through research-based and experiential learning activities.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Teaches skills and knowledge in one or more courses in human relationships, child development, financial literacy, interior design, sewing, health issues, he basic skills necessary for preparing simple dishes using nutrition guidelines during hands-on cooking labs and the opportunity to gain awareness and mentor special education students while investigating the six career clusters and their pathways.Instructs students in safe child development practices and prepares students for teaching practices.Planning and Preparation - Comprehensive understanding of the content and the students to be taught and designing effective instruction and assessment based on these understandings as well as district established curriculum and priority goals.Classroom Environment - Establishes an environment conducive to learning, including both physical and interpersonal aspects.Instruction - Skill engaging students in learning, including the wide range of instructional strategies needed for all students to learn well.Professional Responsibilities - These include, but are not limited to, self-assessment and reflection, communication with parents, participating in on-going professional learning, and contributing to the school and district environmentEducation/Work Experience Requirements:Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, in Technology Education, Industrial Technology, Engineering, or a related.Licensing: Must hold or be eligible for Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) certification in 1210 - Family and Consumer Education, at the appropriate grade level.Experience in teaching middle school students is preferred but not required.Strong knowledge in various areas of technology, including but not limited to engineering, design, fabrication, robotics, and computer programming.The ability to create engaging, hands-on lessons and projects that encourage critical thinking and problem-solving.Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.Strong commitment to fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and families to support student success.
