Java Application Support Specialist
Position: Java App Support Location: Plano, TX (3 days in office, 2 days remote)Duration: 12-month contract (ext. up to 36 months) Manager NotesNeed to have good tenure and no long breaks in between projects (especially recently)Team clarified this is a support role and needs strong SQL and strong Java backgroundMust be local to PlanoJob Details:This role is part of the Employee Experience Infrastructure and Production Services team, providing 2nd-level operations support for M365 application automation. The successful candidate will support applications and email automation using .NET, deployed on Windows servers and Azure, with a focus on cloud computing, performance optimization, and incident management.Responsibilities:Maintain and troubleshoot Windows-based server automation applications, including web servers, application servers, and database serversDevelop and maintain automation scripts (basic .NET, PowerShell)Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issuesPerform system backups and disaster recovery operationsCreate and maintain system documentationInstall and configure software applicationsMonitor and analyze system logs using tools like SplunkWork with component support teams (e.g., Database, Voice/Data Network and Storage) to coordinate activities for remediation of issuesWork within the internal ticketing system for entering, updating, and closing incident ticketsEscalate to appropriate teams and vendorsPerform various housekeeping functions on room systems/infrastructure (e.g., daily health checks)Serve in an on-call rotationProvide communication to leadershipRequirements:Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) or similar, including experience5-8 years of experience with incident ticketing in an automation support environmentProficient in Java, SQL Database, Automation scripting, and SplunkExperience with M365, Azure Cloud Computing, and .NETProficient in Incident management, ticketing requirements, and end-user support servicesAble to describe issues, escalate, and articulate impact to affected users and leadership as neededProficient in common MS tools to assist in data analysis and reportingProficient in viewing Splunk Dashboards and engaging in corrective activitiesExperience with Windows AdministrationDesired skills:Automation skills to reduce manual activitiesProven team player who can work comfortably in a multicultural environmentProven ability to work independently, multitask, and effectively work in a complex environment with a global team structureExcellent verbal and written communication skills; Strong influencer, facilitator, and collaboratorDetail-oriented and organizedProactive, enthusiastic, flexible, results-driven with attention to detailStrong problem-solving and critical thinking skillsMotivated to achieve results and the ability to quickly integrate into teamsAble to work in an ambiguous environment and draw and defend results and conclusions
