UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.Position Details Department: HR - EHRA Personnel Admin-260106Career Area: Human ResourcesPosting Open Date: 10/17/2025Application Deadline: 10/31/2025Open Until Filled: NoPosition Type: Permanent Staff (EHRA NF)Working Title: EHRA Human Resources ConsultantAppointment Type: EHRA Non-FacultyPosition Number: 00060419Vacancy ID: NF0009348Full Time/Part Time: Full-Time PermanentFTE: 1Hours Per Week: 40Position Location: North Carolina, USProposed Start Date: 11/17/2025Responsibilities The EHRA HR Consultant supports a wide variety of campus positions (faculty, instructional, research, athletic, executive, and senior administrative) and provides support on appointments, classifications, compensation, separations, strategic planning, reorganizations, performance management, and policy interpretation and administration.Ensure compliance with university, state, and federal laws and regulations related to EHRA staff.Provide professional consultation on HR best practices to support university and department goals and objectives.Update and implement compensation/classification policies and programs for faculty and non-faculty as directed by UNC leadership; evaluate compensation practices for compliance, equity, and fiscal responsibility.Perform classification studies and job analyses; advise on organizational structure and classification changes.Provide guidance and training on EHRA appointments, job changes, and promotions.Review and approve EHRA hiring proposals, hires, job changes, and promotions in the HR Information Systems.Coordinate review and administrative tasks for the EHRA Non-Faculty performance evaluation process.Provide guidance during termination processes to ensure policy compliance.Anticipate future needs and collaborate with campus HR on short- and long-term planning.Triage and troubleshoot exceptional situations; escalate as appropriate.Review HR business processes for opportunities to improve and achieve operational excellence.Perform other related duties and participate in or lead special projects as assigned.Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor's degree and two years of progressively responsible professional HR experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
