Information Technology Project ManagerIndustry: Public Sector / Government Health & Human ServicesProject OverviewThis role supports large-scale technology initiatives within a state government health and human services environment. The Information Technology Project Manager will provide leadership and oversight for enterprise-level system implementations that directly support Medicaid and medical services operations. Active initiatives include Provider Enrollment and Credentialing, MMIS System Modernization, and Medicaid HR-1, with additional projects added as priorities evolve.The Project Manager will partner closely with business leaders, technical teams, vendors, and subject matter experts to drive successful delivery of complex IT solutions. This role plays a critical part in modernizing systems that impact healthcare providers, state operations, and the individuals who rely on these services.Key ResponsibilitiesLead cross-functional teams of business analysts, data analysts, developers, and vendors through the full project lifecycleManage highly complex, enterprise-scale IT implementations as well as smaller concurrent initiativesDefine and document business and technical requirements in collaboration with product owners, SMEs, and scrum teamsGuide strategic direction for technology solutions aligned to organizational goalsCoordinate development, testing, and deployment activities to ensure successful implementationSupport business and operational teams during system analysis, validation, and user testingDevelop and deliver project status reports, risk assessments, and executive-level communicationsEnsure project governance, controls, and compliance standards are consistently followedManage scope, schedule, budget, and overall delivery to ensure projects are completed on time and within budgetMentor and train internal staff on project management best practices to support long-term sustainabilityProject Initiatives & ImpactIn this role, the candidate will make a measurable impact by:Driving modernization of Medicaid systems to improve efficiency, data quality, and service deliverySupporting provider enrollment and credentialing processes that affect healthcare access statewideStrengthening project governance and delivery standards across enterprise IT initiativesEnabling smoother collaboration between business stakeholders and technical delivery teamsHelping transition project ownership and knowledge to internal state resourcesRequired Skills & ExperienceSuccessful experience managing information technology solutions.PMP certification or equivalent working experience.Knowledge of various software development methodologies (agile, waterfall, DevOps, etc.)Active implementations requiring support include Provider Enrollment and Credentialling, and MMIS System Modernization, Medicaid HR-1.Experience in successfully applying project management and project governance principles.Proven experience managing information technology solutions in complex environmentsExperience leading large-scale, enterprise IT projects from planning through implementationStrong understanding of project governance and delivery frameworksAbility to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersWork Environment & DurationHybrid role with onsite presence in Pierre and/or Sioux Falls, SD, at least quarterlyProject engagement expected to last up to 24 months, with potential extensions based on performance and fundingJob Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Pierre, SD.Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $65.00 - $85.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
