Quality Engineer

Overview The Quality Engineer at Mainstream leads QA/QE activities in a manufacturing environment, guiding inspectors and ensuring traceability and compliance. You will partner with design and manufacturing to embed quality in new product development, interpret GD&T, and drive continuous improvement of inspection procedures. The role includes managing the QMS and maintaining ISO 9001 conformity, while coordinating supplier quality and nonconformance processes. This position offers impact across a wide range of products for military and commercial sectors, with hands-on leadership and cross-functional collaboration. ResponsibilitiesOversee and train inspectors in proper quality techniques and proceduresEmbed quality into new product development through APQP and inspection planningInterpret GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and ensure dimensional accuracyImprove and implement quality procedures leveraging proven methodologiesPerform accurate dimensional inspections and generate inspection reportsAdminister QMS software (e.g., QT9) and manage documentation revision controlInspect incoming materials, hardware, components, and assembliesEstablish Supplier Quality Assurance and collaborate with procurement on supplier risk managementMaintain quality records and provide data for internal/external responsesIdentify and disposition nonconforming products (NCPs)Evaluate returned merchandise (RMAs) and determine root causeMaintain ISO 9001 and other certificationsUS citizenship requirement due to ITAR constraints Key requirementsAS or BS in Engineering (or equivalent)Minimum 5 years quality leadership experienceMinimum 10 years total quality experienceDeep knowledge of quality and reliability methods for hardware/software in aerospace/defenseExperience with QT9 Quality Management Software (preferred)US citizen due to ITAR regulationsleadership and people managementcross-functional collaborationproblem solving and root-cause analysisGD&T interpretation per ASME Y14.5QMS administration (QT9 or similar)ISO 9001 and certification maintenance
