Position SummaryBridge Brothers is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead the structural design and execution of custom steel bridge projects from concept through fabrication support.We are open to experienced engineers from industrial, heavy manufacturing, or other structural steel backgrounds who are interested in applying their skills to bridge design. Prior bridge experience is preferred, not required, for candidates with strong structural fundamentals and steel design expertise.This role is based in Greenville, SC. No travel is required. Key Responsibilities Engineering Leadership & DesignLead structural design efforts from initial submittal through final approval and fabrication supportDesign steel structures, superstructures, and foundations using applied loads and site dataPerform and review structural calculations, design packages, and engineering reportsApply and interpret applicable codes and standards, including AASHTO, AISC, ACI, ASCE, DOT, ADM, and IBCMaintain and continuously improve internal engineering standards, design practices, and procedures Project Execution & CoordinationServe as the technical lead across engineering, detailing, and fabrication teamsReview and release shop drawings, submittals, and letters of conformanceCoordinate closely with drafting and detailing teams to ensure drawings reflect design intent and constructabilitySupport fabrication and field teams remotely to resolve engineering questionsCommunicate with owners, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure technical alignment and compliance Team Support & Continuous ImprovementProvide technical oversight and mentorship to project engineers and designersSupport sales and estimating teams with technical input during pursuit and pre-construction phasesManage engineering deliverables, schedules, and priorities across multiple concurrent projectsIdentify opportunities to improve engineering workflows, documentation, and cross-team coordination QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (required)5+ years of structural engineering experience in bridges, industrial structures, heavy manufacturing, energy, or complex steel systemsStrong fundamentals in structural analysis and steel designFamiliarity with AASHTO standards or industrial / building code frameworks (AISC, ASCE, IBC)Experience coordinating with fabrication, detailing, and construction teamsAbility to lead projects and make sound engineering decisionsProficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Google WorkspaceStrong ability to read, interpret, and produce structural and fabrication drawingsExcellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skillsProfessional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required Work Environment & Physical RequirementsPrimarily office or remote-based work environmentOccasional interaction with fabrication teams as neededAbility to lift up to 50 lbs if visiting shop environmentsPPE provided if entering fabrication areas Role DetailsSchedule: Monday–Friday, full-timeEmployment Type: ExemptTravel: NoneBenefits: Eligible after 60 days (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, PTO, paid holidays) Apply TodayIf you’re a senior structural engineer with strong steel design experience—whether from bridge, industrial, or heavy structural backgrounds—and want ownership, flexibility, and meaningful projects, we want to hear from you.Join Bridge Brothers and help us build lasting connections—one bridge at a time.
