Data Collection Technician

*Autonomous Vehicle Operator - Data Collection &* *Testing* *Location:* Boston MA *Travel: *traveling multiple times a month for days at a time- everything paid for by us *Employment Type:* W2 *Rate:* 30/hour *Duration:* Contract (1 year long) *About the Role* We're looking for experienced vehicle operators to support autonomous vehicle testing and data collection operations. In this role, you'll be responsible for driving autonomous vehicles during testing phases, observing system performance, documenting issues, and performing basic troubleshooting to support software development teams. This is a hands-on, field-based role where you'll spend 6-8 hours per day behind the wheel, serving as the eyes and ears for the development team as they refine autonomous driving technology. *What You'll Do** Drive autonomous vehicles for extended periods (6-8 hours/day) to collect data and test system performance * Observe and document bugs, errors, or unexpected behaviors during autonomous operation * Follow specific testing protocols (e.g., highway driving, lane changes, specific routes) as directed by the development team * Perform basic troubleshooting such as system resets or executing command line scripts when issues occur * Write detailed end-of-day reports documenting issues observed, conditions, and system performance * Validate fixes after software updates by testing specific scenarios * Work independently in the field with minimal supervision * Maintain assigned vehicle and ensure it's ready for daily operations *What We're Looking For* *Required:** Professional driving experience with a clean driving record * Experience with data collection, bug observation, or quality assurance testing * Comfortable driving 6-8 hours per day * Strong attention to detail and ability to document issues clearly * Experience writing reports or logs * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision * Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated * Must pass motor vehicle background check and pre-employment drug test *Preferred:** Previous experience as an autonomous vehicle safety driver or operator * Experience with robotics systems, prototypes, or testing environments * Basic technical troubleshooting skills (command line, system resets, following technical procedures) * background in QA testing or validation & driving * Experience working with companies like Cruise, Waymo, Argo AI, May Mobility, Aurora, Zoox, or similar *What to Expect** Long driving shifts (6-8 hours) in autonomous vehicles * Independent work - you'll be on your own for most of the day * Detailed documentation requirements - end-of-day reporting is essential * Variety in daily assignments - different routes, scenarios, and testing objectives * Collaboration with software development teams to validate fixes and improvements *Requirements** Valid driver's license with clean driving record * Ability to pass motor vehicle background check * Ability to pass pre-employment drug test * Reliable transportation to job site * Availability to start within 2-4 weeks *About the Client* Our client is a major player in the autonomous vehicle industry, working on cutting-edge technology to advance self-driving capabilities.
