In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining plasma cutting machines to produce precise metal components. Your expertise in CNC programming, blueprint reading, and fabrication will ensure high-quality outputs that meet strict specifications. If you're eager to work with advanced manufacturing equipment in a dynamic environment—this is the perfect opportunity for you!Jeanine.moore@sss-steel.comCompensation rate : $20.00-$24.00 / hrJob closes 6/1/2026ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate plasma cutting machines, ensuring accurate cuts according to detailed blueprints and technical drawingsProgram CNC plasma tables using CAD/CAM software to optimize cutting paths and improve efficiencyPerform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on plasma tables and related equipment to minimize downtimeRead and interpret blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and technical specifications for fabrication projectsUse hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments for quality inspection of finished partsFabricate components using various tools such as press brake machines, CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, welding equipment, and stamping pressesOperate forklifts and cranes safely to move sheet metal, raw materials, or finished products within the facilityConduct quality inspections throughout the manufacturing process to ensure parts meet specifications and standardsCollaborate with team members on assembly processes and tooling adjustments as neededQualificationsProven experience operating plasma cutting machinery within a manufacturing or fabrication environmentStrong knowledge of CNC laser cutting, CNC programming, and machining processes including CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, and electrical discharge machining (EDM)Familiarity with blueprint reading, GD&T standards, and mechanical drawingsHands-on experience with welding techniques and sheet metal fabricationAbility to use hand tools, calipers, micrometers, micrometer gauges, and other precision measurement instruments accuratelyKnowledge of safety procedures related to crane operation, tool handling, and machine operationBasic math skills necessary for measurements, calculations, and quality control checksMechanical aptitude with a focus on tooling setup, fabrication techniques, and troubleshooting machinery issues
