Transportation Planner

Position Title: Transportation PlannerLocation: Kansas City, KSDuration: 4 month contractWork Model: In person Monday-Wednesday. Remote Thurs-FriMust Have Qualifications: 2+ years of experience working in transportation planning, logistics, supply chain manufacturing/distribution planningTMS (transportation management system) software experience, platform does not matterPlusses: Previously working in food/beverage industryExperience with E2open TMS softwareSAP ERP experienceDay to Day:A client of ours is looking to hire a Transportation Planner to their Logistics team. Joining a team of 5, this individual will play a pivotal role in ensuring the timely delivery of products across the US. Mostly dealing with van load coordination, the ideal candidate will be responsible for all load planning activities. This includes tracking sales and transfer orders, managing deliveries through TMS and ERP systems, and scheduling carriers for pickup/delivery. Additional job duties include:Plan and prepare schedules that balance all parties’ (member, customer) needs with planned load efficiency and profitabilityEnsure all transactions are tracked and accurately recorded in the appropriate systems. Reconcile assigned transactions (pickups/receipts) with customers, haulers, members, etc., dailyEnsure plant managers/staff, suppliers, customers, and haulers have properly documented, reported, and or entered all product and freight data required in the systemsMay negotiate contract terms and rates with carrier base, understanding current contracts and defined internal parameters to work withinSupport on-time delivery problem solving and performance improvements with customers; actively communicate with all impacted parties to discover solutions to various issues, such as the shipment of wrong product, excess or deficit of product, missed delivery time or date, etc.
