Seasonal - Utility Maintenance (short term)

SummaryThe primary purpose of this position is to assist full-time Utility/Public Service Workersand perform other utility related activities as directed by the Utility Supervisor.Typically you will either be working a 10-hour day/4 days per week or an 8-hour day/5 days per week, depending on the needs of the department. Hours may change due to maintenance needs and weather conditions, etc. There are no paid holidays. Due to the nature of our activities, we cannot accommodate extensive vacation requests, so please do not apply if you will be requesting more thanfive total vacation days during the season. Long term positions generally run from April through October. Short term positions generally run from June through August.Essential DutiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Assist Utility/Public Service workers in maintenance of the City's systems including gate valves and hydrants.Mow grass around utility facilities.Exercise gate valves and flush hydrants.Perform other duties to assist full-time personnel.*QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Possession of a valid driver's licenseMinimum age of 18PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Self MotivatedIndependent workerEnvironmentPHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
